Re: modification difficulty
I believe on the whole, most of us do our own work. There are more horror stories than you'd care to know about a truck that went to the dealership or a local garage / speedshop for work and was completely ruined. I'd only condiser taking my truck to one of our seasoned guru tuners for work.
11's? There are "stock" trucks almost in the 11's right now. From searching and reading, you'll learn that to get speed means knowing how to tune. Knowing how to tune comes from analyzing data acquisition from your truck, listening to what the truck is doing and telling you and changing things accordingly. Some "weak" spots include the fuel system (stock fuel system maxes out quickly when pushed past stock boost), ignition system (frequent tuneups and MAD tuning issues from things as stupid as a 90% good plug wire, or the wrong gap on spark plugs) and tranny. I don't think you'll find anyone here to say that 11's on a 3800lb truck all day is a reliable combo if you get my drift.....
