Hello, i purchased a 93 typhoon from someone loacally and i was wondering what are some cheap mods i can do. I know how engines work but i dont work on engines so nothing too complicated. I want to get a 160 degree thermostat, and a chip. I was thinking the 10 in 1 chip. I am accepting any advice. Anyone know where i can get a 160 degree thermostat for a typhoon, i found a site that sold em for jimmys and thought it would work the same but im not sure.

Re: My New Typhoon

Oh yeah and i want a correct boost gauge. I was wondering if they made a type that didnt need a pillar pod. One that is self contained kind of like the tachs that have shiftlights.

I'm sorry!

The thermostats are the same as a regular p/u or blazer of the same year, and gauges are made that sit nicely near the center console or on the steering column.

If you let anybody work on one of these that has never worked on one before, bad things will happen.

Here are a few other vendors previously not mentioned:
http://tuckerautoparts.com/
http://www.raceprovenmotors.com/
http://www.turbotime.us/

http://www.sytyauthority.net/ has all these and other miscellaneous vendors linked, but these four are the most popular.

Re: My New Typhoon

The only engines i have worked on are weedeater, goped, and moped engines. Is it hard to work on these?

Re: My New Typhoon

I wouldn't say it's hard to work on these for the most part, but there are a lot of little quirks that you don't get with normal vehicles. Tuning is probably the more difficult part.

Re: My New Typhoon

well these trucks are geting old now, so stuff is going to start to break, it has been said that if you cant turn a wrench, or dont have a some money to waste, then a syty is not for you. I am not trying to scare you but tell you the truth. do alot of reading on here, and learn. when you do work on your truck(or pay someone else to) make sure you use the proper parts, most importantly is cap/plugs/wires, which should be done every year, depending on how mch you drive.. as for them being hard to work on, they have a very tight engine compartment and can be a huge biatch to work on

Re: My New Typhoon

If you want the motor done right, go to a reputable SyTy engine builder. It seems people either go to a SyTy ignorant shop, and get their stuff ruined, or they ruin it themselves. So find a good vendor off the site before you make any conclusions.

Re: My New Typhoon

or what you can do is find some SyTy'ers that live by you and learn from them, and have them help you if your having trouble.:2cents:
