My TT 408" project...

Re: My TT 408" project...

Are you planning on running the fender wells? I was looking in there, a 4" pipe is gonna be tight from what I can tell, down by the starter. Then again, I don't have a LS, things are likely different in that area.

I really want to see the exhaust through the cladding!

I lost or misplaced my fender wells. I might have to by some new plastic ones from a dakota and modify to fit as usual. Im not sure what year dakota, i remember reading a post here about them. I dont want pebbles/gravel and junk getn in the engine bay.
Im going to notch the bottom of the cladding for the exhaust to clear. I think windedv6 has it done this way on his ty.

Going to oval notch cladding here so the tip comes out straight. I didnt turn them down cause I did not want the dreadful cab drown.

Years ago a green/green odd-fire Typhoon from Texax "melted" his cladding when his downpipe exiting through the front fender
and got a bit too hot due to unspent fuel. I know Ed Hess and others have successfully routed their exhausts out the side without
incident, but just wanted to let ya know. It happened at a SyTy Nat's, so the folks gave him "a Best Cladding Award" for being a
good sport. :D

Im a bit surprised that a Syclone would have the infamous "drone" sound but having run dual 3 1/2 inch front to rear on the Typhoon we conquered that mountain early on to avoid hassles. Space and routing were tight though.

Nice work....

Drone is not the description I should of used...I meant I want to keep some of my hearing by not letting the sound bounce of the ground. Its sound cool and all but Im getn to old for the load exhaust all of the time. Especially if I plan on driving it every weekend.

Can I just tell you how f****** awesome that looks! I'm crazy jealous....
What coating did you use on those headers/downpipes?

There was a local guy who was doing this out of his garage...I think he stopped doing this service...Im not sure what the coating are.

Code what?
These pics do this truck no justice! Seeing it in person leaves you in awe!

I think all these pictures of uninstalled parts doesn't do this build thread any justice. Install the parts then take pictures. :worthless:

And the first time I saw it in person I did think awe....how cute.

Re: My TT 408" project...

Does anyone know if I should or need to install a vent on my fuel cell??
I would hate to promote e85 evaporating if I don't need to.

Re: My TT 408" project...

who makes aluminum hoods for s trucks

AMD go to jegs...I think I paid $550 shipped a long time ago.
Beware the aluminum is very thin and does appear to move/flex from the engine heat.

Yes. If not, the tank will build up a vacuum in it. Even if you run a "venting" style cap, I'd still run a vent. It should also have a check valve for rollover. I was thinking about putting a shuttoff on my vent since I'm running e85 as well, but I'm afraid I'd not open it one time and pffft, something else is costing me money.. I got an Ethanol tester through Amazon a while ago for around $20 shipped. If you don't have one, it's a good investment. I've tested mine after 2 months sitting & it tests the same as it did when I filled the tank. So I don't think evap through the vent is that great.
