Need A Little Advice

hi everyone,
just bought typhoon 92, only found out what they were a week ago, and bought it straight away! might beable to tell im not american for not knowing what a typhoon is!
therefore dont know much about how these thing tick.
i have some idea of what i want to do to get a few more horses,but dont want to spend much cash, or blow it up!
here goes;

-induction kit is already fitted, are there any cold air feeds out there or will i have to make my own.im in dubai and reaches over 50 degrees C in summer!

-do they run well with decat pipe, i know some european cars engine managment dont like it.

-how much boost can i run safely as stock

-i looked at www.sytychips.com , and seen the Ultimate chip. are they any good and do they run safe on stock motors?

any other suggestions much apprieciated.

Drive , get to know your truck ,and make sure nothing is wrong with it before you mess up something you know nothing about . Every syty has something wrong with it in some way , learn to know what to look for before pushing forward .

oh yeah for sure, im a technician and have modified many cars.
it gets delivered tomorow and i will check it thoughrouly,
would just like to know some of the common mods for a little extra

Whether you know how to modify a car or not is not the same as effectively increasing hp without causing damage. I see the bug has hit you , but patience patience , the fun will come soon

Your first purchase should be a cable for some sort of scan tool (Datamaster or Tunerpro RT) . Once youve figured out what every table , function , and flag stands for , as well as how they all mesh together , then and only then should a chip or horsepower increasing mod be thought of . Im only trying to save you from a unexpected motor rebuild . They arent hard to come by. Enjoy ..

you seem like you know your stuff,i need big help!
i just picked it up.
its knocking its tits off under load,
theres smoke coming out of the crank case breather pipe,(rings gone?)
and i didnt make it home......got a loud whirring noise then a knocking noise from the front end, possibly drive shaft/ front diff!!
aaaggghhhhh!

apart from that its a clean car...jap import. but it has already been played with (from what i can see thers an exhaust temp warning light,induction kit,boost guage where the glovebox used to be and god knows what else!!!)
i have a feeling its over boosting

i will get it on the ramp tomorow and have a look,

i was really lookingforward to this car too....now i know it will be a head ache!!

If you remove your front propshaft and the noise goes away , at least you know its not from the motor .But with it blowing a bunch of smoke , the motor might be coming out soon anyway . Check the compression on each cylinder .

You right the rings are gone or the piston are broken/melted. You need a rebuild.

thought so (rings gone) and it was definatly pinking/knocking/detonation...this things had a hard life!
what kind of cash are we talking for parts for a rebuil? i.e head gasket, rings, and shells. they easy engines to time up?

i didnt get any pics, i sent it back to em today. they have another one so they better sort it.
the drive train went on the way home...i was pretty much in the desert at 12am tryin to get recovery...well pissed off.

when i drove it out it was only pinking...i thought ill beable to sort that....then you know the rest.
put it on the ramp at work and it needs a little work underneath,small things like steering idler arm, small leak from rocker cover,engine mounts and brakes etc.....the brake fluid was black!!

i thought i was hard done when i always had old 3 series bmw's in the uk!!!!!
