Need Help - Oil Pressure Gauge

I rescently purchased this ty, The oil pressure gauge never worked until I noticed that it went all the way around and got stuck underneath the pin. I went in and spun it back around, now when I start it it reads all the way up at the top, never moves, just stays there, when turned off it goes back down.

So my question, where do I go to see if it is hooked up? I think the previous owner may have disconnected it trying to fix it.

Between the block & the firewall.

It sits on a brass mount that positions it parallel to the ground.

I checkd there, there is a clear line that is hooked up and it ends plugged up down by my passengers feet. Where do I run it to? I would prefer the stock gauge to work but I also have an aftermarket one I can use. Why does the stock gauge move all the way up really fast when the truck starts?

The stock sending unit varies the resistance or voltage to the gauge based on oil pressure.
If the stock sender isn't being used, it makes sense that the needle doesn't behave correctly.


Sounds like you need to purchase a service manual or CD.

sounds like they put a mechanical one in.

can you see oil in the line?

I wouldnt run a mechanical line into your cab, you could leave it under hood or just go get an electric one.

Yeah there is oil in the line, so your saying I shouls remove that line and get an electrical one? Thanks-
