Need help wiring dual Ramcharger fans

I just want to say i will appreciate all the help i can get, becuase i have never wired electric fans before in my life and have no clue what wires go where, what relay's, and fuses to use. Any options are appreciated, here's what i got.

Dual ramcharger fans on stock radiator, fit's awsome with a little modification. Thanks to Brian Green for his topic on these fans.

165 Amp altornator
50# Ultimate with the IC pump trigger at 160/not using this, went A2A
optima red top in the bed behind the cab.

I realy would just like to have the fans come on when ever i turn on the ignition, no switch, so they will just be running when the truck is also. A simple wiring diagram would be most appreciated.

Well, I am a simple creature,
but to get what you want just run the hot wire to the fusebox under the dash and find a fuse that is hot only when the key is on, if you have a test light or volt meeter you can do this. and put the hot or Red wire their
the ground is also VERY important, a good ground either to the frame or negative post on the battery what ever is more convient.

BE SURE TO PUT AN INLINE FUSE ON THE RED OR HOT WIRE BETWEEN THE FAN AND FUSEBOX.
I personally had a new electric fan from autozone lock up after a week or so, it instantly melted the hot wire, filled the cab with smoke, I pulled over an instinctively grabbed and jerked the wire, :drinking: leaving hot melted plastic on my hands, so get a fuse.

Why not use the IC relay since you are A2A? You can use the chip to turn the fans on or off at whatever temp or just ground the yellow wire on the relay and when the key is on the fans will run. The wires already run down to the fan area anyway.

However you do it, don't run the fans off of the fusebox. Use a relay wired directly to the alternator or battery and turn it on with a power source that is only on when the ignition is on.

the ic relay is a good idea if you have the schematics to know which wire is which. Can't say i have tried it but it sounds good if the chips activates the selenoid at the time you want it to.

The idea with the fuse box works if you use a stand alone 30 or 40 amp relay with 12v power going to the battery or alt (fused). Then the switched 12v can be activated in the fuse box, or spliced into the ign wire. The only thing with this is when cranking the engine over, the fans will draw alot of power making the truck harder to start. Some sort of delay would be nice, or you can try (i think the accesory) spot on the fuse panel which does not activate 12v when "cranking" only when ign is hot.

You absolutly need to run a relay. Go to a automotive supply and get yourself a Tyco or poter brumfield #vf4-45f11 40 amp relay. A bosch foglight 30amp will also work. you need one per fan. Get a 10gauge fused wire from the Bat pos or the back alt lug. hook that up to the prong marked '30'. hook '87' to your fan positive (load). '85' goes to ground. and '86' goes to your key on source. If you need a schematic I can fax you one.

Here is a simpler generic brake down of what terminals are for on a relay

30 Supply

87a Normally closed

87 normally open

86 switched power

85 ground

Ypu can also have "86" key on and use a stock temp switch on "85"

I wrote a big reply from home today, but my awesome connection didn't let me send it yet :roll: Anyways, you can probably buy the whole plug n play harness with relays from Ramchargers or www.casperselectronics.com .

If you go that far, I'd get the dual fan speed setup, and trigger the fans to come on low with the intercooler pump turn on, then put the high speed turn on from another switch, set at 170-180° F.

Tryed searching around on the casperelectronics site and couldnt find any plug and play stuff. I will give ramcharger's a call to see if they have a plug and play system, that includes relays, connectors, wiring, fuses and so on.

Also, the fans have 3 wires to them each (green,black,yellow) could someone identify these for me.
