Hey, I recently puchased a 1992 sonoma GT w/ 172k miles (my first truck). I bought it really cheap with some problems. The main problem is dealing with the cooling system, the block is leaking coolant from a small crack right above the freeze plug on the drivers side. I bought a sealant that is guaranteed to fix it but I am having problems putting the thermostat on. It comes with a rubber grommet that fits around the thermostat but it doesnt seem to fit. I cant figure it out. I am going to buy a book tomorrow, meanwhile I have been searching all over the net for info. Another problem I am having is figuring out what engine I have! Yes I know this is crazy, I thought it was the 4.3 ltr V-6 Vortech (shown on engine) but when I go to autozone to get the parts nothing matches, oil cap and thermostat. The guy looking up '92 S-10 with a 2.8 v-6 and the parts fit, I am puzzled. Can you guys help me out with figuring out what engine I have. I will post pictures as soon as I can. I need to get this truck running for school. Thanks

You have the 4.3 vortec with the W vin code I believe. It is the same engine as the 92-95 blazers. I doubt GM even remembers putting that engine in the s-series. It has the vortec in red letters across the top of the engine doesn't it? I would get the parts by looking up a 92 blazer w vin engine most likely.
