new to the forum

Hello everyone
this is my first post. Just to let you know that I DON'T own a SY/TY. But I will soon.
I've always had a special place in my heart for a TY. I'm hoping to learn from this forum before I purchase one.

Welcome to the board! I got my Sy about a year ago and there is nothing else like it. One piece of advice that will help you out use the search feature on the top menu. Search Ownz plus there is a lot of good info to be found here. Goodluck in your search for a Ty.

Welcome. I signed up for the list, long before owning one too. I read all the posts, and knew about the purple wire problem with the starter, long before I had even purchased mine, and how to fix it. Also, you may wanna team up with a member or two in your area to have them lend assistance when finding your first Sy/Ty. I went on plenty of test drives with Brian and Cliff before finding the right one.

Welcome to the club. My wife HATES my Typhoon. She thinks it's a LowRider car, and that I have no taste in cars. She doesn't like the looks of the Grand National, nor the Dodge Magnum.

:dunno:

There are some things that women just won't get. This is one of them, in our case. At least it keeps her from driving mine too much, she might just wreck it for spite.

And, there are a few lucky guys out there whose wives actually like them. Maybe next time around we'll find one too!

my wife is pretty neutral about mine, so long as i don't skip the house payment to play with it. but she did buy it for me on ebay while i was deployed and dealt with all that for me.

if you buy off of ebay stay away from tri-state auto auction. they're pretty shady or the guy that works for them i bought mine through.

Support the SyTy Militia.

Anyhoo... if your not busy this coming weekend and you want to take a trip, the GA and FL guys are meeting out in BFE somewhere in the middle of GA (those GA guys are a little nutty)

Its not super close, but it'll be a good time as always.

You can read about it here: http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=28949

My Sy lives in the garage, wife calls it the Primadonna (with tounge in cheek). There are Sy's, Ty's and everything else it seems. I just think its fun to own a piece of history. 'sides I like driving the thing.

What does your truck do in the 1/4? I have a brother at Fort Hood (lives in Copperas Cove) who drives a 03 Cobra and Lightning (both sonic blue). I'd love to see someone with a modded Sy run against his modded Cobra from a dig so he will shut up. I have invited him to come to Fort Campbell but he says his M/T radials would shred before he made it to Texarkansas??? If you're game, let me know and I'll tell him about you.

Nah, don't mess with either one for now. If he were lightly modded, I'd say go for it but his lightning is running a 12.4 and his Cobra is dialed to about a 11.2 but if you see him around, give him a holler. His name is Ben. He has a light blue Porsche Carrera convertible widebody he rolls around in as well. If you track him down, just let him know I spun you on to him but don't race him.....he's talking enough smack now the way it is :).

I agree, unless you are running strong, forget racing either one. that cobra will go by you before the 1/8th if he is running 11.2's no matter how good your launch is, which won't get great in 2wd.

Re: new to the forum

If your looking for a Ty. I would consider selling mine, it's been driven four times since last November. We want a couple of horses. Go from horsepower to "horse power". It's stock, has a little more miles on it than normal but I've tuned it up and is a nice Ty, I'll soon be painting the cladding. But if you want to you can go to the GAST site for a look. PM me if you're interested or need more info.
