Re: New Ty owner in Toronto!

I wish I had the foresight to put together an album from start to finish, but sadly I didn't and all the body work is finished, should be going for paint soon. The areas behind the cladding was really really rough... so there is a ton of new metal going in and for the price I'm paying, it's coming out looking like brand new. No more rust, car is going to be 100% solid and hopefully once it's done being painted, it will look like the Ty in that pic.

Interesting that someone would repaint a brand new truck an entirely different color when it was new, especially when the new color is available from the factory. Do you know the story behind that?

I have no concrete evidence of this, but from what I've been told... (bare in mind, Typhoons and Syclones were not sold in Canada at all, every Sy or Ty here has been imported)

My Ty was originally owned by GM and was being displayed at Mosport Speedway in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada roughly an hour out of Toronto. There was a wealthy gentleman in attendance who had his heart set on leaving the event with a Typhoon. GM brought up two Syclones and a Typhoon, mine, which was Wht/Gry. He really wanted a black one but since GM had none available at the time he took what he could get and repainted it shortly after.

Maybe some members here could shed light or elaborate on what I've been told.

Man, I never new there was any SyTy history here in Ontario, that's a pretty good story to have to go with your truck. The only other story I have heard was of a Green/Grey in Toronto that was imported by a rich dude who wanted it for a winter beater, because of the AWD. Needless to say, when I looked into this one it was in pretty tough shape, and I stayed away.
Now get some picks of this thing already, we are all patiently waiting:)

I'd stick with the white/grey, just my opinion, but it's original, and I think makes it stand out just that little bit extra

Re: New Ty owner in Toronto!

I'd do the original color scheme and remove that dual exhaust.. I'd put money on that exhaust having baffled mufflers which is the easy way of robbing a turbo car of a bunch of hp. And atr exhaust and pretty much all exhaust ever produced for these trucks were single exhaust.. atr did make a dual exhaust for the buick grand nationals/turbo regals but it was more of a appearance item since single is only needed.

Good luck with the truck

Decision has been made! White and grey it is! Sorry for the terrible cell phone pics, it's cramped in there so I couldn't get a full shot in. Once it's all reassembled I'll get proper pictures. They did a really good job, turned out very nicely.
