NGK YR5 non projected spark plug tip

Right now I'm running the UR6 gapped at .025 but was thinking about running the YR5 #7052. The heat range is the same as stock , since they don't make a YR6, but the thought was that the non projected tip would be less prone to detonation. What do you guys think? Has anyone ever run these?

Wow! Not everyone at once. I can hardly keep up with all the feedback.
FWIW I bought some NGK R5673-8 #3249 and am going to throw them in.
My goal is to run as much timing with pump gas and methanol as possible.
So far I'm only able to run 16* at 25#.
I would like to see lower to mid twenties, if that's possible, but first I'm upgrding my 50#ers for some 65#s after reading BoostedSUV's flow numbers.

I understand, but I said it with the greatest amount of humor intended! I know that plugs have probably been beaten to death and is not that interesting a subject and that is why I responded the way I did. I'm just passing on some info I found and thought I'd share.

sarcasm with some of these guys can be taken as a personal foul. you are still pretty new (as am i) and i'd hate to see you get "stoned" so soon.

If I am, I am. I've been reading this board for quite some time and have taken quite a bit and just want to ask/share and try to give a little back. No skin off my teeth if I'm shunned. I know I my not be respected, because that's something you have to earn, but sometimes its like TYTILIDIE said a few days ago.

It's an interesting experiment, but I don't think you'll see much improvement.

If you do decide to try it, keep an eye on the plugs... check 'em periodically for flecks, excessive heat.

Surface gap seems to make a comeback every couple of years... or variations on that theme.
