Hi Mike thanks for aski´n.

SO or "Stockholm Open" is the MAIN iligal race for racecars detuned and masked as streetcars with mostly fony papers in Sweden, and its big here..Theres another one Big race caled the Birka cup, still iligal and also a big event..

I did want to atend several times in my youth, -78 - 90 but money was a big issue then (still are)so I settled to do my best at lokal streetraces around middle of Sweden, and today my goals is not so big.. and I want a safer enviroment to run races.. so I started in the middle of -80 to run at track competitions..

Answer NO I did never race at SO, and never will eather..

"Today" I´ll build my Nova to run 12 sec bracket racing and to cruze town, go on long trips and vacations with the car..

Robert have to give U the answer hi´m self about your Q..

But I THINK he never did a SO, nor will he do so eather. Robert is a Timeslip racer..

Feel fre to ask more Q if U want. Hope to be able to answer most of them, and the one U get answer on is honestly the truth

Watching videos of street racing in sweden makes me want to go! My cousin was in sweden a year ago and told me all about it.

all i know is the little yellow opel (i think it was) was a bad mofo.

it just really amazes me how these ppl, here in the US and there in sweden, get by with shutting half the interstate/freeway or any public road down to run street races. you try that here where i live and there will be every squad car in the county there before you can bat an eye. now when i used to live out in the country a few of us would get together and race on an old back road with no traffic. but it was nowhere near as organized as the races ive been seeing on the net.

Stockholm is the capitol city of Sweden and its a huge (for us ) city, at least 1 miljon people there,built on several small islands. thats grown to big, the crime rate is low ,compared to other city´s in other countrys around the globe, so we dont have to much cop´s around, and thats goes for the rest of Sweden to, to few cop´s

At the time I was the main organiser to iligal streetraces, I did it whit the the cop´s silense aproval, because I had a good crew an safety arangement (even a doc and ambulance was at the location if it was a big race) and I used a small airstrip not in use about 10 miles from my home town.. that race gathered racers from distances more than 250 miles away, some was contenders in the SO races but they where not automaticly the winners, there was alot of fast street cars then (If u consider 11 sec maybee som 10 sec cars fast) this was in the late 70 and on to -87 maybee as long as to -89..

I have some videos from these events but on Betamax, and my mashines is crapp today, see if I can save some and have someone help me put up some of them.
