Oil P Sensor Location

Guys,

I am reassembling my engine, and noticed that the Oil Pressure sensor is screwed into a hole at the back of the block by the distributor. That's a helluva hard place to reach, so I am going to relocate it. Here R the 2 locations that I thought of :

1.) At the remote Oil filter head plug (3/8"). I am already putting my Mechanical Oil P guage connection there, and my Oil Temp there also. However, I would have to make an electrical extension wire to get power to it.

2.) Tee off of the copper Oil P line to the new OP guage. I would have to keep it near the present electrical plug, so maybe I can pin the sensor to the firewall where the lead is.

#2 is my present plan.

go with no 1, or tee off where the oem turbo oil line is.

Why?

There just too much congestion at the back off the motor now.

my only reason.

ed,

I like that location also. But, to bring it all the way forward to the Remote Oil Filter, I would need to make an electrical lead about 4-5' long to get the power to it.

The electrical connector for the sensor is a weird one - some round, 3- prong connector that I haven't seem before. If I could get the correct Male and Female connectors for it, I would definitely do that.

The only other thing I could do is cut the existing Female head off, splice in the wire, and use the old connector at the Oil Filter. Kinda Mickey Mouse, but I guess it would work.

ed,

I like that location also, because then I would have both Oil P guages there, the Oil Temp. and the Turbo Oil supply all at the same place. Hopefully I can fit everything in there.

nothing wrong with running 4-5 ft of wire. just live up to the challenge of making it all like oem! thats the trick.

besides if somthing has a leak its a lot easier to see.
