man o man, i just did the exact same thing last week. its not hard its not even that time consuming.........its just not as easy as on your everyday car. first you have to put the truck up in the air, how high is up to you. next, disconnect the inner cv joints (six on each side). four huge bolts hold the front diff in place...remove those. move the diff out of the way towards the drivers tire. it will come down and over just enought to do the work but it wont come out. to get to the bolt in the frame that hold the diff in, your going to have to modify an 18mm wrench to fit into the hole to cover the nut. next remove the flywheel pan, the starter, the oil rail (youll know what i mean) and the oil tube from the side of the pan, youll have to replace it at autozone or something, use any hose like it, there is no special hose, i used radiator hose (its not high pressure). make sure you have lubricant on hand to put the hose back on because its a tight fit and tough from that angle. next take out the oil pan bolts, the oil pan will come out easily but you have to shift it around a little. REMEMBER TO JUST BREATH EASY AND TAKE YOUR TIME, DONT MAKE IT A JOB, JUST MAKE IT SOMETHING TO DO. when you have the oil pan out clean the surfaces where you remove the seal from. make sure the pan plates are flat when reinstalling them, and only tighten the oil pan bolts snugly. by now you are on your way back to putting it all back together, its really not a bad job, just take your time and dont let it frustrate you, it'll be over soon enough.

WRITE A NOTE AND TAPE IT TO THE STEERING WHEEL....MAKE SURE YOU HAVE OIL BACK IN THE BLOCK BEFORE STARTING THE MOTOR. i dont mean this in a smartellec way, but some times we get ahead of ourselves and just plain forget. if you have any questions or problem you can call me at 502-802-1806. good luck.

How bout it?
:D This sould go in the tech artical page. Some pictures would also be nice. Also might want to check/change your motor mounts while the diff. is out. Very nice write up non the less.
