Oil pump Q

Ok, so I wanted to pick someones brain at hooters and forgot. Anyway, I got a new melling pump with pick-up tube and shaft from a board member, and with the pump installed the pick doesn't sit parallel to the bottom of the pan to clear it. If I turn it front it will clear the pan and the pan will sit on the block ok. This isn't right is it? Ther screen prolly sits on a 45 to the bottom of the pan.

WHat part number is the pump? There were a number of weaker castings that crack easily on our trucks.

Yeah I know about the pump issues. No, no pic. It is a m55a HV pump. I already did the search but no part # was found.

Ok, so I think I have a 210s p/u tube. In the garage now and it appears to be about an 1/8 inch too deep. Is this the tube everyone else runs. According to melling the 55-s1 tube is the oem replacement. Anyone??
