One touch windows??

When I bought my Ty, it had one touch windows. However, the passenger side worked fine but the driver side would only roll down half way then stop (you have to wait a few minutes and hit the switch again and it will go the rest of the way down).

I was told it was the module (a pretty expensive piece for power windows I must say!). I bought a new module and the same problem exists. Where do I look next? Thanks!

The module is most likely aftermarket, and they usually have a series of dip switches which will allow you to change the resistance to compensate for older vehicles you would just have to get the directions of the module and adjust accordingly.

Are you sure? Because even if I push on the window (to help it down) it will go farther, but it still won't go all the way. Thanks for the quick response by the way.

Or do you mean electrical resistance?

The window could be binding up on the way down as well. It could be that someone replaced the window motor and the nuts and bolts they used have come loose as well. Yes the dip switches effect the voltage used to power the windows so when it sees that it is trying harder to go down it thinks that it is down which is why it stops.

GM's are notorious for bad window motor's. My Trans Am needs them every few years, they do exactly that... stop halfway then need to "cool down" and then they move again. After a short while they will stop moving alltogether.

X2 - If it slows down & then stops, you need a new motor.
