  • SYTY EXHAUST MANIFOLDS W/CROSSOVER PIPE $300
  • SYTY TURBO $250
  • SYTY INJECTORS $100
  • FACTORY DOWNPIPE and EXHAUST SYSTEM $150
  • A2A INTERCOOLER $150
  • WARBRO FUEL PUMP $120
  • WIDEBAND O2 $300
  • CUSTOM INTAKE PIPING $ ???
  • MARINE INTAKE $250
  • BOOST GUAGE $60
  • HP TUNER PROGRAMER $500

How accurate am I ? What is used to control boost? (I assume the stock computer doesnt have the capiblities.) What did i miss? Thanks guys!

Thanks. Not really looking to purchase anything right now though. Still working on what things will cost and what will work. Then i will have to save up the money. Besides, wouldnt i need the upper intake and tb as well to make it work?

Yep, you would. Let me know if you are ever interested. Not sure how long I will have it but am not really advertising it yet either. I have some work to do to this stuff before I actually sell it and I will use the money to begin work on my fuel system which I wont really need for a few months anyway so progress on cleaning this stuff up is slow:lol: Good luck with your project:tup:

You want both engine and tranny? Or just the engine? How come you don't log on that much anymore? I want a years supple of ice caps also. LOL

Just the engine, if i were in the city i am sure i could arrange something for your ice capp addiction. I never "think" of logging in, i know that sounds stupid but with the truck parked for the winter i gradually ease out of Sy mode for a few months, its not intentional it just happens.....then i log in after a couple of weeks and browse around for a few hours to check things out.

How's it going... :)

You'll just need a boost controller from www.rjcracing.com (60.00) or so. for boost controll. I set ours up
at 10psi right now for daily driving and spanking mustangs. Lol.

The pipes would cost 40-60 ish... depeding on material. I used mild steel. But I can weld/fab that easy with all the stuff at the shop. Took me 4hrs to do.

Air/Air IC is about 130-150. On e-gay. Good enough for our low hp stuff.

Some hidden costs...
Oil feed/return lines. -4 feed -10 return.
Pulling the front diff to get the pan off ... in order to get the return line in.
Pan gasket
Grinding down the power steering stud bending line slightly. (no cost just Pain in the tail)
Coolant lines from intake to lower block.

Some wiring... injector connectors all low cost stuff. Somthing to attatch the throttle body to the charge pipes... Couplers for the IC pipes... humm.. that's all I can think of.

We've got 153,000mi on the truck over 13,000 boosted. better milage with turbo and tune. TONS more power.
Feel free to e-mail me man.. That's what I'm here for.
The manifolds are going for 250 now.. I got hosed! :(
Thanks, Scott~

Scott,
Thanks for responding :D I am considerinng doing this to my sons 98 2wd s10 vs. putting a 327 in it. What is your opinion? Cost and reliablity is a major factor.
What is your estimated 1/4 mile time? Are you planning on running alky injection at all? Is the $500 tuner nessisary? Thanks again for all the work you've done and sharing it as well!!
Respectfully,
Tom

327 is more reliable, even turbo'ed. depends on what kind of money you wanna drop, you can make anything strong with money and time

Re: Parts needed to turbocharge a 98 jimmy/s10?

When tuned right I think the stock 4.3L has more advantages than a standard sbc with carb.

If he's driving it daily the mpg increase alone will make a huge difference.

I'll bet our 4dr 4wd mega moo Jimmy is mid 13's. on 10psi. No knock plenty of room to turn it up.

on a 2wd standard cab S-10 I'd bet mid 12's with sticky tires no problem.

If you get the conversion done it cost's me 100.00 to register a vehicle on HPTuners. Once it's dialed in

there is not much need to change it. HPTuners does transmission shift ponts/firmness.

That'd save you some money there not having to buy the tuner.

I was into small blocks and nitrous years ago... All I'm around now is turbo cars... and for good
\
reasons!

e-mail me any time,
Scott!

Yeah, millage would be an issue, but learning to tune can be a long road while trying to tune your vehicle. in the end a 4.3-t would be a little more cool, lighter, and better mpg. just harder to get running right in the first place

Re: Parts needed to turbocharge a 98 jimmy/s10?

Ok, so i have 2 turbos to choose from. Which one is the question? Both are 20G's, one has 8cm housing and the other has 14cm housing. Or do i sell one and go completely stock. My typhoon had the 14 cm but it didnt run when i bought it, although it has a green torque converter that says "Explosion typoon B-29A" in permnant marker with a sticker DHHF 2420 and 2427.

I'm thinking get a stock turbo for the 99 s10 so i wont have to mess with buying a stall. From what Scott has posted this seems like the appropreate choice. Thoughts? Scott?

My typhoon will have/has vortec heads, 60# injectors, 412 cam, eagles, 4 bolt mains, .030 srp's. But from what i understand i need to know what size stall i have to select to proper turbo. Thoughts?

Re: Parts needed to turbocharge a 98 jimmy/s10?

if you are lowering the compression with the new pistons, then i would go with the bigger turbo, neither is very big but either way you will be happy. Are the turbos new, if not then i would go to the least beat on.

You can limit your boost with your controller so you dont have to worry about going too big

Re: Parts needed to turbocharge a 98 jimmy/s10?

What about the 99 s10 w/stock vortec 4.3? Is the stock turbo a better choice than 20g with 8cm housing?

Both turbos are used but with 0 end play and minimal side to side.

Do .030 srp's lower the stock compression on a syty motor?

Thanks!!

go with the 20g. stock turbo is undersized even for a non-vortec motor

i have an MPFI 2114 for sale, much better then the iron marine intake. little more expensive though

Re: Parts needed to turbocharge a 98 jimmy/s10?

Yea... what Clone said... :)

I agree.. any of the MItzu turbos are small still and won't require a stall change. Any of those will still be quick responce and will be fine in the lower PSI range if you keep it there.

If you got replacment SRP forged pistons your compression will be stock.

On the 99 you'll be in the 10-13psi range for boost with a good timing and fuel map. I got ours set at 10psi right now and it's been happy with it for 20,000mi now almost ready to turn 160,000mi on stock 98 Vortec engine.
Here's the thread on FullThrottleV6.com : http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50198
Hope that helps,
Scott~
