PCV Bypass

Is it safe to remove/bypass the pcv system? I don't like all the oil that ends up in the turbo, IC and intake.

I will cap the ports on the intake and TB and put K&N breathers on the valve covers. Is this safe, or does it actually need to be sucked out of the crankcase via engine vaccum? I don't want to blow main seals because of excessive crank pressure.

I realize that its not street legal. Will the fumes be outrageous or should it be okay?

I'd probly advise you to get that truck running right first, focus on that.

Best case option is probly to use a catchcan for the oil, and keep it hooked up, evacuating that air helps performance to some degree (although sucking it and it's oil back into the intake air probly negates any power made). Thats not to say you cant get away with a breather on each valvecover....

Re: PCV Bypass

Any one know if it would be a good idea to use a crank case evac. setup on an application like ours? The idea seems alright. I live in the mountains, and have no emissions to deal with. Any thoughts?

Im meeting w/ a local Sy owner this weeking and will be getting some DM runs in. This should point me in the right direction.

I don't know what I did, but it is idling much better now (well in D at least) and doesn't miss anymore.

I see one or two red flashes of knock w/ my ultimate chip...is this normal for 1/2 throttle, about 10PSI? Or should I see 0 knock throughout the RPM and throttle range?

The link posted is good start for reading. PCV valves aren't an emmision device.

actually they are half way and emmissions thing, I'm sure emmissions are the only reason manufacturers picked them up.

Re: PCV Bypass

Emissions is the only reason they vent it back into the intake system, crank case ventalation has nothing to do with emissions, its the vapors that are released that are the polutant. if you dident vent your crankcase you would have major problems with your engine

Re: PCV Bypass

My initial concern w/the evac. setup was having oil mist soaking the O2 sensor. An easy remedy would be to just weld the hose fittings past the sensor. Ya think!
