Re: Performance Tunning the motor.

is it realy that much? ok maybe I need to take a deep breath of reality. lets start with simple mods. What doe's methanol injection do for the truck. I'm from the uk so to be honest Methonol Injection is pretty unheard of other than hard core drag circles. what else would I need for say upto 400 bhp?
Thanks Arthur

Relax, be realistic, read a ton for months or even years, then start spending.

How bout it?
Re: Performance Tunning the motor.

You can run high tens for a bit more than half that. Well at least in a Sy. Might be able to runs 11's in a TY with Turbo, injectors, Higher stall converter, Fuel pump, custom chip, good tires, race gas, and a few other things.

This quickest Typhoon are in the mid 10's. Their is a big difference money wise between running high 10's/low 11 and high 11's. High 11's you maybe able to use the stock shortblock. Just add a larger turbo, injectors, higher stall converter maybe IC and tune it. You can use alky if you want to tune it for pump gas. You will also need a new transmission, propshaft, & motor mounts no matter what you do. High 11's might survive with a 700r4, but anything quicker than that you be better off with a 4L80E. Low 11's high ten you need a new motor, cam, heads (vortecs), maybe headers, even larger turbo and more tuning. You can look at the vendor to get an idea of pricing.

700R4 = STOCK TRANNY

4L80E = BAD ASS TRANNY

Re: Performance Tunning the motor.

Wrong vehicle to purchase thinking you don't have to know anything about it and just throw parts at it and make it go fast...it will eat your bank account and probalby make you commit sucide eventually.

Lesson #1...sytys are tempormental as hell. One wrong thing and you have a 15 second truck or a blown motor.

Like I said...starting reading and stop in 6 months.

meth will allow you to run more boost pressure without detonation.

meth by itself wont do anything.

Re: Performance Tunning the motor.

totaly green I'm afraid. When talking on the UK sites with Euro and Jap Motors I'm pretty up on the jargon but when talking the way you guys talk I feel I'm just out of Nappies/Dypers. Notice the difference in how things are worded? In the UK we say Dummy you say Pacifier. I know this sounds daft but it took me ages to realise what you guys class as headers are just known in the uk as an Exhaust Manifold no matter what has been done to it. So it's like well almost well maybe like learning a new way of speaking/language? It's not that I'm a total Pleb but compared to the way you guys talk I guess I am.

Hey now...it's not our fault you guys lost the war!! :lol: Im just kidding, but, on a serious note, I would start at the basics;
Walbro Fuel Pump (definately get the wire harness kit, well worth it)
AFPR (adjustable fuel pressure regulator)
Scan Tool (Datamaster or Tuner Pro)
ALDL cable (to interface from your laptop to your ECM)
Tune up (plugs wires cap and rotor)

Once you get all this and get it running well, Then Ild check back in and start learning how to tune. Ofcourse, the parts list will grow.
