I am currently looking at opening a garage in the West Chester area where customers will be able to rent tools and garage bays off of me and the work on their own car. Right now I need to find out if people will actually use a service like this. So please answer the poll honestly. I am only really looking for responses from people in the Philadelphia, DE, So. NJ area that will actually use it. If you are from California and would use something like this it doesn't really help my market research much. Thanks to everyone in advance.

I voted no, my issues are that I'm not overly-mechanically inclined. Oh sure, I'll do the shadetree stuff (oil, plugs, wires, etc.) and I've got the garage and tools to do that stuff. But I rather pay someone who knows what they're doing on the big stuff, rather than *F* the truck up myself. Even if I could wrench, West Chester is a hike from Mont Co. Fortunately, I have several SyTy wrenchers within miles of my house (Bigtime, etc.).

I'm not in your market so I didn't vote. Have you thought about the liability involved with turning Joe Blow loose with powertools just 'cause he has enough money to rent them from you. I'm not trying to shoot you down but damn. Think about how many times you've spent a day bending wrenches and DIDN'T go home bleeding.

Just considering the "what if's",

Me and a buddy thought about doing something like that down here because we never had a lift. We were close to getting it done but we didn't have enough overhead and lost interest. I didn't vote because im not in philly but i'd say yes.

I have an attorney and people will be required to sign release forms before they can use the shop.

Theres a place like this here in SF. It's always crowded. There only one lift though. Each parking spot is about $300 per month. You must use your own tools. Then only things that are provided are parts disposal. parts cleaner, engine hoists, and engine stands. I did have to sign a release form and provide proof of ownership of the vehicle. There was alot of guys that would take a car and dismantle it. This company almost went under but after getting rid of their bad apples, it's a pretty good money maker. I say go ahead, but i'm not in your area. PM me if you want any more info on it. The shop must be a very good size to get your ROI.
