Quick question that doesn't seem too off topic: I bought some plugs for my Ty, and the book suggested NGK UR5 plugs, so I bought some and threw em in. My question is will they be fine? I haven't started the truck yet (turbo is off). Should I pull the UR5s out and put in UR6s? Or is the only difference the plug body length?

They'll be fine as they differ not in plug length but in their thermal properties. You'll need to read up on the differences (search) but it's to do with their conductivity. Cooler plugs carry more heat away from the plug I think whereas the warmer ones are less conductive. This has an impact on tuning and knock prevention.

You can use the UR5 and I did once. But a better plug would be the NGK UR6IX 7348 if you have a stock motor.

Back to the orginal thread any of the above wires will be fine. I started out usuing MSD but I switched to Taylor's since they're quite about cheaper. I have not had a problem with either. As mentioned acdelco wire will be good too. Just get a quality cap and rotor.

I'm in the middle on the plug wires. I really like the MSD and that is the problem, because they don't make them for our trucks anymore. I have seen 5 sets of the Taylor wires and I not that thrill with them. In every set there were aleast 2 wire that did not really lock on the plugs. In 1 case we went though 3 boxes to get 1 good set :tdown:.

Only plug wires i've had that actually lasted a few years on these trucks were magnacoil's but they are pricey

i have tested a bunch f wires and can say msd are the only wires i will ever run. dont believe me, ohm out your wires and see if they are more then 80-120ohm if so they are crap.
i used to run the taylors and was killing cap rotors and plugs ever 3 months. i switched to msd and never had an issue with spark again.

Magnecor are great. They last, but are pricey.
Don, the MSD's are decent. But they get loose, and misshapen very easily. The Delcos hold up better and ohm out bit better in my experience.
I've never liked the taylors for exactly your reasons. Ohm a set out and you'll never use them.

Concerning the taylor wires I've also had a bad plug wire from previous two boxs of them I've purchased but the last box ohm'd fine.

For those that aren't satisfied with the taylors which ones are you using, #74232's? If so, you may wanna look at these #84232 (red), #84032 (blk), I run a set of these with stock acdelco plugs CR42 (gap 0.34"), Taylor cap & rotor, msd ignition streetfire coil, my truck runs like a champ. These wires are way better IMO than stock, msd, and the taylor #74232 (common), they have better ohms resistance per foot than those i just mentioned, they might not be better than the magnecor's but they are 1/3 the price and do the job just fine. Also IMO there is no reason to have a wire more than 8.5mm on a stock motor, you'll never see the spark output versus having major mods or a built motor and needing 10mm magnecor, or moroso
