Well, its time to chime in with when you'd rather attend NATS in Bowling Green, KY.


June 5th-7th, 2009
(beginning of summer, probably cooler, less time to get your truck ready, also...this was homecoming's date but there is none this year so as to not have duelling large meets to choose from)

or

Aug 7-9th, 2009
(more time to get your truck ready, probably hotter weather, end of summer fun)

Yes, it's summer time. Yes, it will be warm. But this is the best time to try to get the biggest turnout with the least amount of interference of holidays/school/work/etc.

August is 96 degrees with 80% humidity.

June is gorgeous.

I had to vote August.....besides.....it's always 96 degrees and 80% humidity in Houston....lol. Plus I need the extra time to make sure the truck is ready....

We can't predict the weather 7-8 months in advance. It's a crap shoot for either date for what the temperature will be. The only thing that HOT/HUMID weather will affect is someone trying to run their personal best at the track. The last couple years at Kansas it would rain before track time and make it very humid also. Hot/humid doesn't ruin the fun at the track...it affects every truck the same.

Rather than just speculating what the temperature might be, i'm hoping that people will think about the dates based on when they are and how it fits into their schedule...rather than if it might be 5 degrees warmer that day.

Also note that Bowling Green has covered bleachers and a amusement water park.

Also something to note that is interesting at BG, the grand stands are COVERED.

Doesn't help for the rain, but does give shade.

I am from Seattle originally, so this HOT weather was a bit of a learning curve for me. Maybe I am comfortable with the warm weather now, but neither date scares me for weather so like Renz said, pick a date based on what works to your schedule.

Like Renz said, We can't predict the weather days in advance much less months but I did look up weather history for BG...

The average weather for June 5th-7th is a high 83* and a low of 61* with 4.29 in. average monthly precip.

The average weather for August 7-9th is a high 89* and a low of 67* with 3.36 in. average monthly precip.

I dont know how useful this info is. :lol: I'll be there either way but I thought I would do some research for others.

June as the weather.. been to Nats before in the heat and guys it gets rough after a few hours out side. Will do August if that is the time chosen though!

edit: just read about covered bleachers, nice!

I am already taking a trip in August. Don't know if I will have the time off. I picked June.

I only picked Aug. because that gives me more time to save for a trip. I'll be visiting with some family in Louisville sometime this summer, and should plan it around NATS so I can make it for the first time.

The weather here in nc is nowhere near as hot in june as it is in august.

I will be attending the buick nats and the sy/ty nats all within a 3 week span sweet.

I will be attending the buick nats for 3 days the gsca has the track rental for the 12-16th i'm planning on being there thurs-sat leaving mid day.


so have you chose a host hotel yet? The best western was for the gs nats last yr dunno about this yr but i would guess the same.
