Problems running/idling

Guys, I've got a problem I'm trying to track down.

Chronology:

- get new tank of gas
- next day, drives to work fine
- head to lunch and intermittent check engine light, then stumble and stall, when coming to a stop
- must use throttle to start her up, but drives fine to restaurant
- leaving restaurant, drive, and same thing happens at next intersection
- start her up, and drives fine all the way back home with multiple starts/stops EXCEPT for one period of bucking/surging

So at this point I think fuel or TPS related and I change the fuel filter as a precaution. Pull ECM fuses for a while to let everything reset.

- next startup it stalls and throws a code 51 - check ECM/PROM installation
- start it up again and runs just fine, take it for a test drive, no problems

- get in truck this morning, very hard to start
- once started, idle is spiking quickly (not hunting) back and forth between just over 1000 and stall conditions
- Borrow a friend's Diacom setup and TPS voltage reads fine, TPS behaves fine. More code 51s.
- sit on the throttle a while and after engine warmed up, idles perfectly...no problems

So next spare time I have, I'll pull out the ECM and check connectors and such. Reseat the PROM.

Anything else you guys think I should check?

Thx!

Peter? Issat you?

Reseat the PROM... things come out of socket quite often. It'd have the symptoms you describe too, the chuggle, stops, etc. What chip do you have?

Yup, hey Dig. I've indeed been pretty quiet :) The last few years I've just found myself turn into a lurker, and then recently got into sportbikes so that's my obsession these days :)

The Ty is still all stock, so factory chip.

I'll reseat the PROM and connectors when I go home tonight and see what happens.
