I recently installed the PT&E-52 with Mike's 3k stall TC and some 50#er's. Absolutly love it. Get the oil line Mike offers as well. Its like $125, but consider it insurance.

If you have access to a lift, use it when you do the install. Spend $150 and get a high lift tranny jack for use under a lift. Makes life much easier.

Get a 15mm stubby wrench to get the turbo-manifold nuts off. Buy some Gearwrenches.

Remember, PB Blaster is you bestest friend.

What he said.

From my conversations with Mike Lee and after installing the PTE60 I'd have to say that if you are willing to change the converter then go no smaller than a 60 especially if a new motor is in your future. For just a upgrade for folks who aren't going to tune or want faster it seems the 44 or 51 may be a better choice.

Ed disregard the HP ratings. Alot of that stuff is based on GN.

Code what?
Clint,

You have the same combo i have except i have mikes A2A. I was skeptical about using a TCS TC after all the bad expierences people have had. So far so good though. after the tranny cooler install im going to the track to see what she can turn on 15psi. Do you have any times?

If I may chime in:

In all honesty the difference b/t the 52,54, and 60 are just about nothing. Maybe 25hp. They all have the same compressor wheel, just slightly different turbine wheels which are in the range of tv350s or something (pubic hairs smaller the P trim)

Thats why when people call me its either TE44 for stock converters, or TE60 if they are willing to go 2800-3000 stall. Some people in good weather can get away with less converter, but at altitude you are going to need more stall to get it to spool(3000).

We only install 44s, and 60s here at the shop(occational 51). SO many people think a 52 will be perfect, or maybe upgrade to a 54 in the future, then go 60 with the built motor. There's no difference! You might as well get the largest they sell for the $1595 price, b/c it wont spool up any different then even the 51. Upgrade to the 63 and you will see some noticeable differences, then after that you need to step up into the T or GT series wheels for 550+hp.

This is just my personal opinion from stuff we have worked on, so others might beg to differ. Keep in mind there are also many variables, so it is important to know your plan of attack ahead of time. If you only drive your truck on the street with 15psi your gonna want something different then if you were to race it frequently at 23psi.

A2A is my next big step. I think Mike said the new TC he has is an ACT, I could be wrong though. As a matter of fact I am going to get times Friday night.
