question about engine

Hi everyone, I've bought a syclone 2 year ago, it's in storage now.

When I bought the truck, the original engine had blew up and the guy had put another bolck in it, but it's not a syclone low C.R engine block. The
guy told me that it was from a 1999 engine but I'm not sure. I dont know
wich kind of head are on the engine, but if it was vortec head, the guy
would have to modified the intake to fit the vortec head ? Haven't torn the engine appart yet.

He told me that it was the stock head on the block, do stock head fit on a
1999 engine block?

Could I have vortec heads or maybe L-35? Another thing, the oil pan is in
alloy, with some sort of square patern(cooling fin??). This is a factory
parts with GM # stamped on it. On wich engine it came and what year?

SO, my question is, could this be a complete L-35 engine(my dream) or a
vortec? I'm in plan of building an engine, I have the stock engine block but
if this one's a better engine(L-35), I'll built this one, no need to buy
rods, cam ect...If it's a good engine, I'll only put forged pistons, my goal is to run in the 12', not more!

Well, as far as I know, the cast aluminum pan only came on LF6 motors (96 & newere with the 772 casting Vortec heads), but those heads obviously wouldn't fit up to your intake.

Check the heads, see if there is a blind port on either side, outside of the head, near the coolant sensor on the one side. Should be able to fit your pinky in there.

That'd be an L35 head then.

Take a picture of the block, the LF6 block has a rounded cylinder case, the L35 one is squared off like a stock syty/TBI 4.3.

L35 is still high compression, with weak cast pistons, so it's no reason to be excited.
