Question about plugged off vacuum lines

I noticed I have a couple vacuum lines that don't appear to be doing anything.

One runs from the charcoal canister under the driver's headlamp, behind the alternator and was just hidden alongside the intake. There is a matching vacuum line that says "to cannister -->" which comes from underneath the engine and it is connected to the cannister, but the other just runs to a plugged off T-fitting.

The other one comes from underneath the power steering box and it is sinch-tied to what looks like an oil cooler line. It ends right around the charcoal cannister also and has been plugged off. I can't see where it originates because it disappears under the steering gearbox and I can't get under it atm.

Anyone know what these were for? Any help is appreciated.

Oh, I know the previous owner said the cruise control was either disconnected or doesn't work in case they had something to do with them.

I believe the line you speek of under the PS is a transmission vent, does it have a "check valve" looking fitting on the end of it?

The charcoal cannisters vac hose should connect to the vac. nipple on the front/underside of the throttle body, it should also have a check valve. You should reconnect the line to the Charcoal canister , as a pressurized fuel tank can be dangerous.

The line from underneath does appear to be a check valve, as the plug has a loose fitting that rotates on the end.

The second line has a fitting on the end that doesn't fit the tube coming off the throttle body. The tube that comes off the throttle body is too large, and it is currently not connected to anything. Can you or someone take a pic of what it's supposed to look like?

Its slightly further back and the right, it is perpendicular to the large tube (it points downward.)

Heres a pic of my TB...

The green square shows the location of the larger unused vac. port on the cab side of the TB, it is the top nipple.

The green circle shows the area that the smaller nipple is located, only underneath the TB...the nipple is about 1" long and 1/8" in diameter. This should connect to the Charcoal canister.

On the underside of the TB, there is a plate bolted to the TB...it is the Idle Air Control housing. the housing also consists of 2 large (1/2D) nipples. These are NOT vacuum fittings. They are actually engine coolant fittings that were used on other vehicles to prevent "icing" on colds startups....much like the THERMACs used on TBI and carbureted engines. Our trucks do not use these fittings, so if there is nothing attatched to them, everything is Otay! :D

Doesn't really show where stuff should be in the engine compartment, but it gives you an idea of what should be there, so you can figure out what should go where.

I believe there is a vent tube on the front diff. I have no idea where it is, but near the power steering sounds like a good possibility.
