quick 4L80E question

I know that there are some things that need to be done externally: adapter to keep AWD, shortened rear driveshaft...

But what needs to happen internally to make it work? Is it an off-the-shelf swap or does it need to have specific internal parts/changes?

And does the front driveshaft need to be lengthened?

Thanks

Re: quick 4L80E question

Yes front driveshaft needs to be lengthen, if you dont got a driveshaft with enough telescopic shaft in it.

Of-the-shelf means stock Goodwrench transmission? Yes it will "work" but personally I would do the "standard" 4L80E upgrades for sure since you gone swap the outgoing shaft wich means taking the transmission apart anyways (that if you dont get hold of an transfercase adapter so that the stock transfercase accepts stock 4x4 4L80E outgoing shaft OR use another transfercase but that would open another can of worms thou).
