Quick tire opinions Needed.

I got a set of Camaro SS 5-star chrome wheels (17x9 the zr1 syle), and want to put them on my 92 ex cab 4x4 s10 pickup. It will be getting lowered 3" front, and like 3-4 in the rear. So it should sit right around where you syty guys do. I would like to know a quick tire opinion.

I don't want the tires to rub too bad, and i did a search on here and did find some answers. But in general, would you guys recommend running 275-40-17's all the way around, or stagger them 245-45-17 ft and 275-40-17 rear? They are the same overall height, but I'd rather run the 4 275's, I just found that some ppl rubbed with them, others didn't. Thanks,

I have 275.40.17's all the way around on my sy and the front did rub slightly at full lock..... I notched a litte piece out of the a arm to take care of that I believe

275's tend to wander and follow road grooves with a stock type 4x4 suspsension. I would go for the 245 in the front.

I would think the wider tire would handle better but what Dave ment was with the smaller tire (245) you will have less wonder... the larger the tire the more groves it'll grab and more wonder you'll get.

I don't know if you have 275 on your Sy, but for whatever reason that size and larger seem to overwhelm the stock 4x4 steering and/or suspension. I had 275 on the front of my Corvette and they had a little wander. I had 275 on my Ty and I was fight with the road grooves. I thought it might be just my Ty but I know of other owners with same issue. The 275's just pulled when the road surface has irregularities.

As to the orignal poster, you could always try a 255 tire on all 4 wheels.

255/45 all the way around? I didn't know how that would look... with fairly narrow (for the wheels)tires all he way around. I know I already need to get 1.25" spacers for the rear to push the wheels out... I just got the lowering done last night, it looks great (aside from the stock 4x4 wheels and 235/75r15 tires, lol). So, I gotta figure out what tires to get, order them, and they are going on.... I am gonna go narrow in the front, so either the 245's. or 255's all the way around. 255/45 all the way around?

255 should look fine on a 9" rim. 255 is ~10" wide tire with approx 9.5-9.7" tread width. I have seen 245's on 17x9.5 rim, they look a little different because the tread width ends up being less than the rim width. My 86 Corvette had 255/50-16 on 16x9.5 in rim (this is the factory size tire and wheel) and they look fine as well. I wouldn't do less than 245 on 17 x9" rim or 255 on 9.5" rim.

So fate will have it that I'm running 255/45's all around. Picked up a set of BFG G-Force sports almost brand new for 266... Definately worth it, and then I can still rotate... The normal spacer for the rear tires is usually 1.25" right? Thanks,

The differnce in offset is 30mm between front & rear syty tires, so 1.25" would be nmy choice/

I've seen a few trucks running around with 1" spacers, and it doesn't look bad IMO

I picked up a set of 1" (i think, will check later today) spacers from a swap meet this weekend. I thought they were ford...

I dont need them with my zr-1's so if you want them let me know...

The widest zr1 wheels i've seen were 11 inchers I believe but mine are 9.5" at all corners. With the 275 tires on there and the spacers it brings the tires out even with the cladding.
