realistic AWHP

so would i be unrealistic to be shooting for 550-600 AWHP on a stock crank? I'm having it cut 10 under on the rods to improve fillet, and 20 on the mains, and cryo'd. think it'll hold with 4 bolts and a 1/2 fill of hard block?

How about manifolds? i'm going to open them up as much as possible, but, call me crazy, lots of people do, has anyone ever cut the manifolds in half so as to open the internal passage up some, then welded them back together? been kicking that Idea around some lately basicly because i'm bored and don't feel like fabbin up headers this winter.

I never really noticed, but if our manifolds are like most others they are cast iron. Cast iron doesnt weld very well. There are places that do it, but I dont know if I would trust a fully welded cast iron piece that subjust to intense heat and pressure to hold up. Most cast iron welding is done to repair cracks.

I think the only real option would be to extrude hone them.

Many of the top builders use the stock manifolds up to the 600 - 700 hp level. Do not cut them apart, if you want to inprove flow get your manifolds Extrude Honed. Then get a high performance coating on them to contain the heat inside the manifold.

Yes, the crank will handle that type of power. The hard block will help with rigidity, and the mains will help hold as well.

Personally, I wouldn't cut the manifolds apart. If you're desperate to open them up, make a log manifold exactly like the stock ones. I think if you try to do too much to the stock manifolds, you'll end up ruining them, and you won't even be able to get a few bucks out of them to start your own header project that you'll have to do anyway.

Well for starters. I have engine dyno my set-up we got 605HP/632FT/LB on the dyno @ 15 psi of boost.

My Set-up Stock Block, splayed billet caps, new stock nitrided (RPM) crank, Eagle h-beam rods, JE Extreme Duty Pistons, Hell Fire Rings, Vortec Ported & polished Heads 290 cfm @ .500 lift, Manley 2.02 valves, 1.6 crane gold rollers, LS1 Beehive springs, Stock Ported and matched upper & Lower Intake, 58MM throttle body, Dequiuck AIR2AIR intercoooler, GT35R Limited Engineering Turbo, ATR Headers, ATR Downpipe. BIG STUFF3 Engine Management. 84lb injectors.

what'd those come off of originally or are they custom built for your truck t-56?

They were built for my Sy by the original owner. They've held up for over 100K miles. 1/2" SS flanges and SS sanitary pipe. VERY heavy but still lighter than manifolds.
