it makes me so mad that people think these trucks are so expensive to mod. be smart and do some shit yourselves and don't get ripped off by vendors selling pointless mods.

I cant help but notice the small bit of attitude you seem to display .just because people cant get whatever deal you get or have access to what you do ,that doesnt give you justification to talk down at people . you must feel good though knowing you got it like that .

My old Ty, now owned by Jer, has the folowing parts:

*Stock block bored .030 over & all oil passsages/drain ports were debured and smoothed out.
*Stock crank turned down .010 on the mains and .020 on the rods & micro polished.
*New L35 rods shot peened (sp?) for stress relief & machined to accept the Speed Pro floating pins.
*L35 heads slightly worked on the intake side and machined for larger springs.
*Ported stock intake
*Comp Cams (I think LT1) springs
*GMPP billet steel 2 bolt main caps
*Z28 oil pump with welded pick-up
*Comp Cams double roller timing chain
*Speed Pro .030 over pistons with coated skirts
*Speed Pro rings
*GMPP 1.6 self alighn roller rockers
*ARP head studs
*ARP main cap bolts
*GM head gaskets
*Stock cam
*Comp Cams push rods
*Edlbrock aluminum water pump
*B&M flex plate
*Misc. gaskets and such

This was around three grand with labor, as well I assembeled the long block my self. With a T3-T4 hybrid turbo (about the size of a PTE52) 3" downpipe, A2A intercooler, 50lb injectors and alky injection this combo went a 12.2X in the 1/4 at Bandimere on pump gas (Jer may have some corrections to this, my memory may be rusty). Not a ton of equipment involved

You don't need a ton of money to go fast and be reliable.
True that.I basically have forged pistons,L35 rods, block fill and a 412 cam in mine
(Turbo/DP and fueling are all modded). Stock 2 bolt block, stock heads, stock valvetrain, stock manifolds.I've been beating on it for over 60k. It went 7.68@90 in the 1/8th on 20 psi 14 degrees advance on a generic chip.

If you don't knock it or rev too high,IMO an engine will last forever.

WHAT !?! are you sure? can you elaborate on this? i know a couple of high hp guys running a stock 10/10 crank from the autoparts store with eagle rods with no problems.
My main caps stretched - that is all the damage that was inside the engine - my machine shop guy figures the crank was doing some flexing, and took out the caps (center two). Nothing else was damaged. This was in my 2wd blazer w/ty engine. L35 heads, 422cam, 20g turbo, 3200 stall, alcohol kit, original crank/rods/pistons

Re: rebuilding typhoon motor

i just spent $2900.00 +/- on my build. that only included
Used crank/new bearings/1 new rod/ new wrist pins/new rings
Hot tank and new cam bearings
Balancing and assembly of the bottom end, honing etc.
Cuting heads for valves and bigger springs
drilling for intake
bowl porting intake side/mild porting exhaust
Valves/lock/retainers/springs

2900 and i got the vortecs for free didnt have to buy pistons and 5 rods and already had lower intake modded and ported This rebuilding thing is not cheap. When i first saw Campbell Auto's/Waller etc. motors forsale i thought they were expensive but after doing mine myself it would of been worth ordering it they do all the leg work.
