The upper control arm bushings on my '92 Ty are completely shot and need to be replaced. While doing this I am planning on doing a front end rebuild to include control arm bushings, inner and outer tie rod ends, upper and lower ball joints, and idler arm as a minimum. I'm looking for input as to what kits might be available, as well as part numbers, vendors, etc. I realize this is a broad question but I haven't been following this forum too closely and the two hours of searching I've done so far hasn't yielded any usuable results. I probably don't want to get into heavy mods-- just something that will replace the stock stuff and give a comfortable street ride with the occasional trip to the drag strip.
I know there are some great minds out there that have done way more research into this than I have. I'm just looking for a summary of what you guys have learned so far. What do I need to tighten up the handling, eliminate the slop, get rid of popping, creaking, etc.?
Here's the specifics: My torison bar mounts were replaced two years ago and are still intact, I have an 1 1/4 in sway bar out back, 1 in lowering blocks on the stock leaf springs, and Rancho shocks all around (yes, I know they suck but I'll have to live with them for a while). The pooping and creaking I mentioned are not from the propshaft (also rebuilt and in good shape). My bump stops look fairly crushed (the former owner had a 2 in drop on the truck when I bought it) so I'm guessing I'll probably need to replace those as well, right? I'm not scared of poly eurethane squeak- at least that's squeaking in a good way!
I'd like to get started on this in the next couple of weeks so any input would be appreciated.... Thanks a ton!
