Recommended O2 Sensor?

The Bosch one at AutoZone is under $20. The GM 25176708 one is $114.98 list price. Any recommendations from SyTy owners?

PS: I'm pulling my old one and it seems quite stuck. I sprayed some penetrating oil and I'm gonna give it another round tomorrow. Any tips? Is it true if I used the penetrating oil, the sensor is irreversibly damaged/fouled? (It needed replacement anyway but I was considering keeping it for a "leaded gas sensor").

Do it when the exhaust is hot. If it still won't move use a torch to heat the downpipe, otherwise the threads in the o2 bung will come out with the sensor.

My truck is down for the winter and it won't be possible to fire exhaust thru the downpipe for a while. I will see about sourcing a torch. Thanks for the advice, you may have just saved me the cost of a replacement downpipe!!! ::thumbsup:: Any recommendations for the new O2 Sensor model?

PS: I Just realized, I can just wait on the O2 sensor R&R until everything's back together, and do it then when the downpipe is hot. Either way will be better than busting the threads like I would have done tomorrow! Thanks again.

Be carefull of the one from AutoZone. If it's under $20 then it's probably just a one wire O2. I think the one for our trucks is around $60 or 70 from AutoZone.

The bosch replacements from autozone are fine, but like he said, 50-60 bucks.

I had to torch my O2 bung to get my old sensor out. Nothing else would work.

Get the Bosch #13077 @ Autozone

Think its $47.99 or so, but its the right one.
Gotta be the heated sensor to work correctly.

Yes, the SyTy's came stock w the 2-3 wire, heated O2 sensors.
Supposedly the heated type warm up faster and get to closed loop operation faster.

I guess the heated ones stay hot when the car is off, because
they have 12 V wires to some little heating coil, which I guess
is in the sensor. The GN cars came w a 1-wire unheated type and
alotta GN guys have upgraded to the heated type because they
may be more resistant to Lead fouling when racing w Leaded.

Nevertheless, I couldn't get any more than ~ 7-12 runs even on
the heated types on leaded gasoline before killing the O2 sensor.

We have hit on the Leaded race gas vs O2 sensors many times. I have had 0 problems running race gas in my Sy. Mostly I mix my 116 with 93, but there has been leaded only gas in my tank and I have yet to have a o2 failure. I wonder if Exhaust temps are a mitigating factor?

Daron,

Supposedly some guys have found a way to "clean" the sensors
of the deposits that come w the Leaded Gas. Never worked for me,
however. Maybe I just didn't do it right.

I wonder if the WB O2 sensors foul also. They R really expensive.

AutoZone's computer lists the incorrect oxy sensor - you'll get a one wire one that the counter guy swears IS the one to use. Wrong. They'll think you're wrong before they'll believe their 'puter is wrong.

Yep. If you tell them you need one for a Ty,they DO have the right # in their computer FWIW

Hope your using a crow's foot. Mine came of in a matter of seconds with a slight pop.

Obviously have the extensions handy, and maybe a swivel... it shouldn't be too bad.
