Reliable Arizona mechanics?

Looking for a shop with a reliable technician to work on my truck. Unfortunately, I'm terribly savvy under the hood and would rather not add to any current problems that I may have. Thanks all.

hook up with some board members in your area. i better to learn now than to pay extreme amounts of cash in labor later, plus not many shops no how finicky are vehicle are.

I looked when I owned my first Typhoon. Most places around here would just joyride the truck and then try to overcharge me like crazy. I had one place try to charge me $300 just for front shocks because they said they were special order because it was a Typhoon.

What are you looking to have done?? There are a lot of capable people around the valley that could help you out.

Hey man, I sent you a PM on AZSR as well. I'm looking to figure why I'm losing boost to start (leaking vaccuum hose perhaps?) and I do plan on going with an A2A intercooler and boost controller, maybe a larger turbo set up....these things I have no idea as to how to install. :(

You're talkin to the right guy (PPITyphoon). He's helped me with pretty much everything. I still don't know much but I'm learning slowly but surely. Where are you located?

Yeah, I can help you out. I have to dig out my laptop. I'll try to have it for you by Saturday. One thing you'll benefit from is to get rid of the stock vacuum line setup. I redid both my trucks with these hoses I get from BAP Import Parts and haven't had to worry about a vacuum leak ever again.

But I'll help you out any way I can.

Re: Reliable Arizona mechanics?

A couple of the GN guys I would trust with my car are out of town, but are supposed to be back this weekend. I still think the best thing for right now is to get that ty running correctly. If you are just going to go A2A and a bigger turbo, PPITyphoon just got done doing all that, so he'd be the best way to go anyways.

It still buggs me that you only get like 9lbs of boost. The thing that bothers me is how you get no turbo chatter when you get off boost. Its making me begin to think about a sticky/faulty wastegate rod.

All good points, and I'm definitly looking foward to getting a datamaster hooked up to it. Good to know about the vaccuum lines, that's damn near on the top of the list at this point...along with a tranny cooler which I just ordered. See ya'll Sat. :)

Well, when you guys hooked up, did you disconnect his wastegate hose?? That's an easy way to see if it's stuck. You have to be REALLY careful getting into boost, but it's a quick way to test if it's working or not.

If you're not getting more than 9psi.....that's close to the 7'ish psi of base boost. Maybe the boost control solenoid isn't working properly??

Curious.....

We're meeting at Pav's. I should be there around 7:00 and will stay around 9:30/10:00.

And where was your cousin?? Usually I notice those types of cars. :?

But he could tear me up in my current state. Right now I"m only running 10psi, so it's not really all that quick. ;)

Re: Reliable Arizona mechanics?

Dammit guys I can never make it to the pavs, and the other manager is on vacation for the next 2 weeks so I can't even switch. You guys should come and eat at the Bowl after your done and I'll hook you up. Was hoping you were meeting during the day. My cousin said we coulda went over to Kingpins new shop and checked out there cars. They just got done putting a GT40R onto a STI and it put down 560AWHP. I guess they have a RHD eclipse there now. Don't know if the owners RHD JDM STI is there, that car is ridiculous.
