remote tailgate not working

my remote tailgate has stopped working from the fob. where can i find the remote unit and where do i get a new one from? does a new one need progaming?

yes works as normal from button on dash just the remote bit

is it not working from both remotes or just one?
if yes Check the battery in remote,

if not working from both you need to check module under console

change the batteries. each remote uses two cr2025 batteries. you can pop the fobs open with your finger nail or a penny.

o.k. now changed batteries and it works on one fob, but the other is dead does not work at all. where can i get another fob from? as it was broken when i got the truck. (held together with tape).

You won't be able to replace just one fob. They each are programmed differently and you would have to reprogram the RKE unit in the truck. If you want 2 working fobs you'll need to replace both.

false. i only got one fob with my truck and bought a new, used one for a second. when you go to reprogram, you just do one at a time then both fobs will work.

during one reprogram procedure, you do both fobs. i believe its jumper two pins on the ALDL block then the doors lock and unlock. then hold down both buttons on the fob. confirmation is auto lock then unlock of doors. then do it to the second fob and confirm auto lock then unlock. pull ALDL jumper and good to go.

false. i only got one fob with my truck and bought a new, used one for a second. when you go to reprogram, you just do one at a time then both fobs will work.

RKE will accept 2 different Fob frequency outputs? That I did not know. I stand corrected

The remote from my 1995 Jimmy works on my Ty also.

Weird how this topic came up today...

Anyhoo, I have SONY CR 2016 in my fob and I am going to replace them as well and see what happens.

the cr2016 batteries are thinner than the cr2025 and have a shorter life. pretty sure the cr2025 are the correct replacement ones.

and here is a break down on how i reprogrammed my fobs:
1-jumper the ALDL terminals (upper far passenger side, lower far drivers side)
2-the doors will lock then unlock
3-hit unlock on first key fob
4-locks cycle to confirm
5-hit unlock on second key fob
6-locks cycle again to confirm
7-take out the ALDL jumper
8-close rear glass (it opens when locks cycle)
