RPM coil over install...UNREAL

Just installed the RPM coil-over kit 2 weeks ago....Super impressed!!!
Installed in 4-5 hours,clear/detailed instructions,Nick gave a couple of good pointers to help assembly and the component quality is 2nd to None. The ride is lightyears better,more feedback and balance across the front end.RPM knows there business and it comes through loud and clear in this kit.
Thanks to Mike Lee for all the help and advice he's given over the last 5 years or 53,000 miles.

Even though the TY we bought came with his kit and I didn't buy it myself, I agree, makes driving the TY much more desirable.

Just ride in a truck that has it and you will see. Torsion bars bite the big one as far as Im concerned. Sloppy ride, weak, and take up a lot of space.

Unfortunately I'm in SYTY no-man's land. It doesn't bother me that torsion bars take up room, but what makes them sloppy and weak?

I thought you said the coilover crack the frame on one of your ty, something about the 4x4 frame ss weaker than the 2x4? Apologize if it was not you, I got the coilovers on stock control arms and is thinking of putting back the torsion bars because I don’t want to crack my frame.

i have been running coil overs for 2+ years.. my frame looks great.. no cracks.. no issues..

if you are worried about it, weld some supports to the frame.. not a big deal..

people have gone much faster and put a shitload more force on the coil-overs than i ever will and their frames are fine.

there might have been 1 or 2 frames that "cracked" but no one has ever shared pictures, i'd bet it was just a shitty weld from the factory.


this is not specific to rpm coil-overs.. any coil-overs function the same.. of course some are designed different than others.

Yep that was me and I did post up pics of it. But **** it man, it is worth the stellar handling IMO. I agree with Eric that the factory welds are less than good enough. The frame crack we had was on the wife's Ty when we bought it. It already had the coil overs installed. I swapped them out to my Ty but before I put it all in, We cleaned up the areas real good and "completed" the factory welds. So far no issues.
