Yeah, if you're tired of no-one knowing what your truck is, then you're better off with the WRX. If you want exclusivity (like boostedty said above) stick with the Ty.

Support America...... buy American, stay American (even used). Do you realy want to be just another "Ricer face in the crowd"? :2cents:

well said.. I'd also would rather stand out a little or be a little different and not drive a car that every other house has but that's just my 2 cents

If it was an STi i would say yes, you would probably be happy. But unless the WRX has alot of supporting mods 400+hp is a ticking time bomb. More so then a syty.

Exactly.
An STi will take 400 horses all day everyday A WRX will take it for about 1.5 launches

The STi is a totally different car than a WRX

I wouldn't bother with a WRX myself
of course I already have an STi :rotf:

As far as knocking the japanese cars please show me an American performance car that isn't a total piece of shit?

Viper ? that thing is turd
Corvette? nice if it didn't have so much glue holding the interior together than it smells like a glue factory.
Mustang? probably the worst built car to ever roll off a line.

Where is this stand out American product?
I could have bought any car and I went with a STi
AWD, well built, easy to work on and doesn't attract the same sort of attention as the Porsche

I have owned a 996 Turbo, a Camaro, a couple of Corvettes and a few other high performance cars in my time and the STi is my favorite so far.
(if you want to see unhappy kids place them in the back seats of a 996)

4 doors and being able to rev to 7k then dump the clutch with AWD makes it a winner in my book.

Re: sell or no?

I am in line with these guys.
First off I'd never sell my Ty for an import, (even trade for a Ferrari or McLaren maybe).
Second the only Subaru worth owning anymore is the STI and even they are becoming pretty common.

I see at least one a day but am not surprised when I see up to 5.

If I see one SyTy a month I am goin nuts chasing them down the road and acting a fool.

So if you ask us you will get 101 opinions, if you do what YOU want then you will never be disappointed. Well you will but that way you can only blame yourself. lol

I see one every day also.

as for gas mileage...they really don't get that great of gas mileage. I highly doubt a 400hp one would do any better. prolly quite the opposite.

Stick with the ty a little more trouble but so worth it in the end and 400hp get you r running right and see what happens

The Dodge Charger SRT/8 is looking pretty impressive....want a quick 4 banger; how about the Dodge Neon SRT/4. BTW, the 2008 Z06 is a sub 4 second 0-60 car churning out low 12's from the factory. Car magazines have it above par against the BMW M5 and the Porsche Turbo. Call it what you want but I have plans to buy one soon :).

Well, let's see....the Viper GTS-R, Corvette (base line) OR Z06 and a Mustang Roush, Saleen or Cobra will all clean the clock on a Sti. I have a VW R32 (AWD) and it is hands down the funnest and best handling/braking car I have ever driven but like a Subaru, it is underpowered.

:bs:
I don't know what Corvettes you had, but I have owned/driven Corvettes from years 1963-2006, and not one of them smelled like glue. I have worked in a Corvette only shop, working on just Corvettes, and have never smelled this, nor seen these "magic" panels held on by glue. The interior of the newer Corvettes, C5 and C6 are put together fairly nicely, and straight forward. With each generation, its get better and better.

I would take many Corvettes in a heart beat before I even thought about an STi. An 03/04 Cobra would hands down but it to an STi deep in its Subi butt. So would many other American sports cars.

Bear in mind that like Porsche and VW, Subaru designed the Sti to perform across the broad spectrum. It was never designed primarily to click off fast 1/4 mile times. Sure a 03/04 Cobra will waller a Sti in acceleration but get them both on a road course with multiple turns and cork-screws and the Cobra won't be anywhere in sight after about 2 laps. The Sti and Evo's are incredible cars for what they offer but there are plenty of US brand vehicles that are above par with it given normal "streetable" conditions, contrary to the opinions of some on this forum.

have you driven an STi? If you had, you'd change your opinion about what you said. The car is geared for autocross/rally type driving. Not straightline. 2nd gear is so damn short. At a drag strip, you get to 5th gear by the 1000' mark. Plus stock they make their power from 4k to 6k rpms - hardly a drag racing car.

If all you car about is the 60mph to 120mph, then yes - go buy yourself a cobra.

name one $30k american sports car that will kill the STi.

I dont know about kill but i would think hang with late model camaro, trans am, gto( I guess the are more muscle car)

If you spent 30k on a cobalt ss it probably would take one

turbo solstice

STis are cool and probably one of the few imports i would own but i am still and american man

And I know i would much rather have my Syclone than a Subi any day just my :2cents:
