Show N Shine - Please read

I got our confirmation today for a reserved area for our trucks for the show/parade at Old Town next to our hotel.

For those who dont know about Old Town, they have a car show every Friday and Saturday Night... Friday being the newer vehicles, Sat being pre 74. Each night, they line up the cars and you get to parade them around the area. They start at 1pm and end around 8:30pm. The parade is more towards the end of the day. Old Town is literally 100 yards from the hotel.

So heres the low down.

For those showing up Friday: I can call and get us a spot and we can get into the show and do the parade. I dont have to call, but if we want to all park together, I have to let them know in advance...otherwise, its going to be a freeforall parking....and it fills up fast.

Friday Option B: is to head to Orlando Speedworld and go do some racing. Its about a 45min - 1hr drive from old town using the Toll Road.... i.e, we can have some fun driving at highway speeds....aka, who will be able to keep up with Jeff Scott and the TT Ty in the top end

Friday Option C: We could always do the parade and then goto the track as well.


For Saturday: We have a reserved spot for us to park together. Again, the show starts at 1pm and ends around 8:30. We can get in as early at 10am to park and set up tents, etc. WE DO NOT HAVE TO BE THERE AT 1. **** If you havent registered, please do. I gave them a tentative truck count of 30-50 trucks. This is important as they need to know to make as much room for us without breaking us up into 2 sections.*********

Im sure everyone is going to want to clean and shine their trucks before the show. Id like to have everyone there so we can do some judging for awards and be able to hang out and later on grab some food maybe before the parade. I need to call back and let them know what time we plan to show up. If you guys want to show up at 1, fine with me... if you want to do 4-5, thats fine too.

I did not give them a time yet due to I wanted to find out opinions first.


So heres my question to everyone. WHAT TIME DO YOU WANT TO GO ON SATURDAY?

I guess the main question(s) rolling through my mind are:

1) - What time will we be done with the catered lunch on Saturday? Will we cut it short to hit Old Town or will we savor it and wind up getting to Old Town later? Would we rather spend more time as a group or at Old Town participating and ooh/ahh'ing over rods?

2) - How many people truly plan to race? Adam can vouch for this....I've been to plenty of meets (and planned some) where lots of people say that they're gonna race only to show up w/o a truck or wind up not racing. I understand that sh*t happens and nobody wants to chance it when they're a few hundred miles from home, but before anyone raises their hand in participation, marinate on the reality of it and answer seriously.....will you be racing?

I'm all for any time or alternative.

My thinking is that one day (Saturday) of Show will satisfy my needs, and given the dynamics of group scheduling - it's probably better to have the reserved spaces without being tied to a specific time.

I may be interested in making a couple runs with the Sy, depending on cost and race-equipment rules.

My thinking is that one day (Saturday) of Show will satisfy my needs, and given the dynamics of group scheduling - it's probably better to have the reserved spaces without being tied to a specific time.

I agree.....any flexibility in scheduling we can have will be needed. It can be a chore to get 12 members up by 10am to go to the track.....getting 50+ people to park by a certain time would result in chaos IMO.

$10 to spectate (kids under 12 are free)
$15 if you want to race

It goes from 6pm til 10:30pm

They are a NHRA Sanctioned track. I havent been there in a long time, so I dont know how hard they are on tech nowadays. I know for certain we will need jeans and a helmet to run for those that are stock to mild mods. The faster trucks im sure they will look at more closely if you bust out a low number and throw you off the track if you dont comply. Christian or Jordan could probably better answer about tech.

I probably wont be running my truck (needs to have hoods magic hands on it for awhile before it goes WOT), but id go and watch if everyone else wants to go.

I have the truck back together, but am just having a problem with getting it backed cranked (turns over a couple of time and then let out a huge back fire) I have tried 2 different caps made sure the timing was not 180 out just about everthing i can think of (hopefully i can get it figured out). I have a few other little things that needs to be changed out (fan controller) and a couple of little things.

Distributor isn't 180 deg out is it?

Naw that what i thought it was at first but I checked making sure #1 was at TDC and it was and the rotor was pointing to the # 1 cylinder. Just odd I Might try giving you a call sometime this week. You get the papers?

Some balancers have 2 timing marks, watch for that.

I verified it with making sure the #1 piston on the comprssion stroke with the plug out.

I might tinker with it in the next couple of days (some how hurt my back and sholder yesterday).

Hell worse comes to worse I will just bring the SOB down (trailer) and then get yall to help me with it.

It is very wierd I burned up a cap and rotor(did not have the rotor seated all the way) and when i replaced it now it turns over and then back fires. I have 2 other caps and 2 other distributors. Just driving me nuts. I guees it is how it goes get 10 steps ahead and then now back 5. oh well.

I had this same problem on my old daily after I did a head gasket swap. Turns out that I didn't have the vacuum line to the MAP sensor connected...

I'd try swapping out the ignition module...you may have taken it out when the cap and rotor were fried.

From the few who responded, it seems that Friday is going to be an open night to hang out and possible go race instead of showing at Old Town. Note, Friday night is the ONLY night we will be able to participate in the parade. Saturday we can ONLY show. (They have rules about vehicle years in the parade). *** NOTE: Im coordinating if we want to show as a group on Friday to have a saved spot. If you want to show your truck on Friday and not go race or play around, you can just pull right in and still do the parade. You will just have to find your own parking.****

People who would be willing to race: Hood, Rob T., Ian T., Pope, and I guess I will include myself if I get some tuning in beforehand.

Anyone else?


Saturday: My thought is to start the BBQ lunch in the hotel parking lot from around 11am and go until 2-3pm or until the food runs out. During lunch, we can do the raffle and give out awards. Then we can plan to start cleaning up, grouping up and take the short drive over to Old Town around 5pm. Plenty of time to show off the trucks for a few hours and hang out.

Well i got off my ass last night and checked and changed a few things and it wanted to crank then i killedt the battery it was already weak turning over(odyssey).

I am going to work on it this weekend and see what i can get it to do.

I am game on doing what ever hell it will be there one way or another either running/half way running/ or not running.

Hopefully i get everything like it needs to be and running pretty decent.

Don (DonHo32) and I will be in orlando on friday, we are down for ole town on friday but we both agree that its just to far from our garages to race and risk break down. we can be there whenever on saturday

I spoke with Tracy a few days ago since she needed a time.

We are scheduled at 5pm on Saturday for the Old Town Car Show. WE CANNOT DO THE PARADE.

So..... Friday is open night. We can go race, hang out, or goto the Old Town Show as a free for all.

Saturday....Grill, give away stuff, 5pm goto the car show, dinner, and watch me, hood, ian, and whoever else get stupid on pocketbikes.
