I'm currently trying to install a new SM 3" downpipe. Turbo is currently out and the entire exhaust is removed from the Ty. My question is do I need to remove the trans crossmember to install the new Downpipe? Also when putting it back together any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

lol I wouldnt have thought it had to be removed either, bummer. After riding in Gary's truck, I would think you will be more than happy with the upgrade!! If it pulls anything like his truck, you'll have a permagrin for sure! lol

Re: SM 3" downpipe install

I hope...I removed the WG puck and extra material on the exhaust side of the turbo, putting in a PLX DM-6, welding an extra bung for WB, installing a test pipe, putting in an ATR cat back exhaust, Changing plugs and wires since I'm in there, fixing the leaky nipple on the upper cooler..... that should be it for a while.

Re: SM 3" downpipe install

The downpipe, cat delete and DM-6 are in..... Anyone on the fence about buying the downpipe or cat delete should just do it. The fit and finish on this piece is excellent and I am extremely pleased with SM products so far....Its definitely louder than before.... I'm currently waiting on the ATR cat back exhaust to quiet it down a little ....then let the fun begin:)
