SON OF A B!TCH. - Finalized

I just got the typhoon fully paid off 2 weeks ago. I own it. 100% mine.

Murphys Law.

Driving home from work today, its lightly raining and traffic is not really heavy but a bit slow.

See where this is leading already? I should just stop right here....but for the people who like the blood and guts....

Ive already got my eye on a chevy corsica behind me...just something I do when I drive anyhow...watch the person behind me. We come up to an intersection, light is green but traffic is slowly moving through it, no big deal.

Get through the intersection and come to a stop behind the vehicle in front of me. To bad the corsica didnt stop.

The dumb mutherfawker wasnt paying attention and slide right into me. I got out and started to bring back my arm to take a swing while Im asking if he has insurance..... lucky for him he said yes and I calmed down somewhat...not before I unleashed a holy war of vulgarity in his face.

No major damage, but my cover and support is tweaked... the famous support puncher hole in the passenger side of the cover and a cracked tab on the rear pass corner cladding.

Best yet... cop gets there, does the paper work and hands it back. I ask if hes being ticketed...

"No sir, there is no major damage"

WHAT?! Your kidding me. I doesnt matter what the cost of the damage, major or minor, he rearended me.... CARELESS DRIVING.

Cop still says no.... "its not major damage"

I go on to explain what the hell the blue fu%king truck is in front of him and how the parts that are damaged ARE NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE and how much the GM OEM value is on the pieces....

He kinda looked shocked after i told him the cost to replace the parts....

He went on to tell me if I had a problem, his name is on the accident report along with the case number.... go to court.

Welp, im going to court. Total BS. In the state of FL, you rearend someone, you are ticketed for careless driving.... it doesnt matter the damage cost to either vehicle.

To top everything off.... his corsica was not damaged except for a small chunk of rubber from the scuff gaurd that came off his bumper...

and better yet.... he has progressive... the most worst, stupidest, idiotic, moronic, bastard child of an insurance company to get money from.... if you do get it.

Thank you to Marty who got me hooked up with parts 10 minutes after I got off the phone calling the cops. Hes the man.

So, how was your day?

Well, I hit a cat this morning. First couch cushions, now furry little friends. I'm on a roll myself. Mine wasn't after I paid it off, but started the day after getting back into another Typhoon.

Sorry to hear about your luck, but I'm sure it could have been a lot worse.

You'll be back in no time. 8)

Sorry to hear about your misfortune :( . Hell, I almost got side swiped in my truck last weekend by some stupid scoccer mom in a mini van on a dang cell phone  .

Went to Wallyworld to get some hanging files for my file cabinet. There are three lanes at this light leaving the store. The one on the left is a left turn only lane. While the one in the middle is a left turn or straight lane. The last being for making right turns. I was in the middle lane with my left turn signal on. The light goes green and we are both at the front of the traffic. On the opposite corner is a Firestone tire store from where we were sitting. As the both make the turn, I can see that she is kinda wandering over into my lane... The next thing I know I am looking at the passenger side of her minvan as she crossed right over into my lane and turned into the tire store. No turn signal and didn't even look  . I laid on my horn after she turned and was completely of my way :fist: . Came within inches of getting hit.

For those of you who haven't had a close call before, it REALLY pisses you off. I have had a few in my time in other vehicles but, it is A LOT different in the syclone. After it happens you think about how ugly that it could have gotten based on the bad experiences of others. You can imagine how you would feel but it's not something you can fully appreciate until it happens to you.

Ok, I'll vent... ..... the sy had a rough time making its journey to MI :(

So heres the deal, I had a company called Passport Transport haul the syclone to MI.......

for those who haven't heard of them, they are "supposed to be one of the top of the line" in transporting very nice rides.

Well guess what shows up with some additional scratches on it. Nothing to freak out about, but ones you don't want on a truck in such pristine condition.

I immediately called and told them that the scratches were done while the truck was being brought here.

They sent me some forms and said to get 2 estimates.

Well, today I finally got the second estimate which basically reflects the first one.

I had a body shop at a GM dealer do it.

The body shop guy starts getting really nervous about the paint on the cladding. Saying that it has some sort of silicone in it, and that would be the toughest part of the whole job.

So we come to a conclusion

that the estimate will be written up to include........

a new passenger side rocker cladding (which is discontinued), and pass. side front bed cladding (also discont.)

The parts still had prices attached to them and, that is what we used in the estimate.
Each estimate came out to be around $2,500 or so.
So I sent this company all the digital pics , the 2 estimates of the damage, and this form, and a letter explaining that they were at fault.

Now, however they decide to pay me for this , I'm still not convinced how I'd like to the stuff to be repaired. Mainly concerned about matching the cladding to the rest. The door shouldn't be that hard to do, but the truck does have obvious orange peel to it.

I'm also wondering if the scratch in the rocker cladding could be sanded down, and then painted. I have to replace the passenger fender arch anyway, so maybe I could just paint the one side of cladding... Just paint the passenger side cladding from front to back.

I'm not too sure if painting just a piece of cladding here and there is going to look right with the original stuff right next to it. So then , do I just do the entire side?, entire truck :D?

I will not let the truck out of my sight, period. Its immaculate. I would never let it sit at a paint shop or any shop and take chances of some clowns taking it out.

I didn't want to really say much about the shipping problems I had until there was some sort of settlement between myself and the company. Its in there hands now. The driver who picked up the truck in So Cal, swears up and down that he didn't scratch it, and there weren't any notations of these "new" scratches on his inspection paper. They had to come from somewhere. :fist:

Heres some pics....

Damn Scott, they fucked your shit up.I say heads should roll.Tell them you want a "devaluation settlement" on top of the repairs since they ruined the originality of your rare classic.A truck is only "original" once, and since they have ruined parts on it you should be compensated.

Adam, you should do the same thing as well. :D

Is a there a way to determine an amount for a devaluation settlement? I think this is something to bring up with them, but I'm sure I'd have to have something to back it up on paper.

Man that Sucks, those were obviously caused along the way, your luck to have so many before and after pictures. I would have thought someone would have cleaned the tires off at least.

I had a bad day as well. I was driving my Corvette (that I am trying to sell) and hoped on it to pass someone on the highway. I look in the rear mirror to see a big old cloud of smoke, so I figure I blew a radiator hose. I coast off the highway about a half of mile to next off ramp, and at the end of the ramp I try to go, my tranny is slipping big time. The smoke was my tranny fluid burning off, the pan is empty. As I wait form teh tow truck, I see a line of tranny fluid as far as I can see and the back of my corvette is covered with oil.

I have been to sick to jack the car up to look where my fluid is leaking from.

Yesterday a friend and I go to his shop to change my wheel cylinders (planned on racing last night) and one of his brother’s friends comes by the shop with a c.e.l. to see if we can check it. I’ve seen him a couple times before but don’t really know him. He has never ridden in a syty, so I take him for a ride. I turn off of a SR onto a back road and I see the car behind me has the turn signal on to go on the same road I’m on, so I pull over in a small parking lot so there isn’t anyone waiting behind me when I launch the truck. Well the car that turned behind me was actually following me and they pull in front of my truck and a guy gets out of the passenger side and goes to the passenger side of my truck and starts trying to punch the guy I’m taking for a ride. Then decides to try to pull him out the window puts his hip up against the door and starts pulling on him, he lets go and I go back to the shop and check out the damage. The door is dented pretty bad, the door handle and lock are pushed in and the window sounds BAD right before it gets all the way to the top.
