Speakers??

What's every one using for speaker replacements? I've been out of the scene for a while and was curious. I was always partial to pioneer or alpine. Kicker?

Polk makes good stuff. They make a compenent style front 4x6 that fits great and sounds better than regular 4x6s. Just spend the money and get more than the entry level stuff.

4x6's, how many of these does a Ty have? I spend most of my time under the hood.

I run 4" Polk Audio plates in place of the 4x6s in the dash, Polk 6X9s 2 ways in the back and an Alpine 12" in a sealed box. It sounds pretty damn good in my opinion. I am adding 6 1/2s and tweeters in kick panels and running all of the component speakers off a separate amp when I get back.

I thought about doing 4" but mine have a 3.5" midrange and a separate tweeter, maybe I'll change it when I blow one.

How are you guys running 6x9's in the back? Everything I've tried doesn't fit, it's too deep to fit with the factory grilles.

Is there a decent, shallow 6x9 that fits?

I don't know what model or series they are but I have Polk Audio in mine and still have factory grilles in place. They are a thinner profile than most. Good sound quality.

I looked up the specs, apparantly we need 2.5" or less depth.

No wonder, the ones I had were 3.2". Time to start looking!

They sell adapter kits which extend outward. Luckily mine already had them when I got the truck.

I posted this a while back. I have since completed the installation and I am pleased with the speakers. They are not competition worthy by any means though. Mounting depth 2 7/8"
