Starting problems and "check guage" flashing.

My Ty has been a dick to me lately. I have to turn the key like 50 times to get it to turn over, and then when I am driving with my headlights on the "check guages" light flashes. I dont know if they are related or not but both started happening at the same time. Any ideas?

The Check Gauges light comes on when a gauge is at a "bad" value. Like if it sees 0 oil pressure or something. It's just an idiot light to tell you to look at your idiot gauges. While there could obviously be something wrong with that specific light's circuit, is there something abnormal on any of your gauges?

What exactly happens when it won't start? Just click? If so, it could be the infamous purple starter wire, if you haven't replaced that yet.

Since you're having trouble starting and while using the headlights, I'd say to check out the electrical system. A bad battery can be a huge load, and a crappy alternator won't help anything either. Might not be an actual part, but bad connections somewhere too.

alternator could be on its way out maybe?? I've seen weird electrical things happen when they decide to crap out.

Might want to go to a local gas station/service shop and see if they could do a load test for ya.

Well I had a little more time to look today and the alternator isnt putting enough power back to the battery. So I guess Ill check conncetions and if they are good, Im in the market for a new alternator. Hopefully it doesnt cost as much as my TH350 did. HAHA. Anyone wanna donate a alternator?

A good scaner will tell you exactly what your problem is. The Auto Zones in my area all do free scans of cars, so you might look into that.
