Can I swap out the exhaust side for a mitsu housing? I want something more than a 16g but not laggy like a 20g. I think that the stock syty might be the answer for my DSM.
thanks

The exhaust housing is not bolt on, at all.
:rotf: That is why we sold our POS. Actually, it wa a good car, wife just wanted a Ty.I just couldn't get the kid's carseat in backwards and still carry the wife.
the syty one isnt, but i should be able to swap housings though right?
Maybe. But you said you wanted to used the SYTY exhaust housing right? If you are willing to go through all of that, why not just buy the turbo you want?
90% of peoples spool issues are TUNE.
People change turbos like underwear yet don't tune or understand how to make a turbo spool properly.
Listen to Jeff, my 20g was laggy compared to the stocker and that was taken care of by Jeff and his tune.

So your saying after Jeff tunned it,your TD06H-20G turbo w/a 14 cm housing spooled as fast as a stock turbo? And thats w/a stock converter also?
They are different turbine wheels between the 14b/16g and the 17c on a typhoon. A stock turbine housing won't fit as the wheel is larger on the 17c, it's a TD06 wheel. The stock dsm turbine wheel is a TD05H. You need a Dsm housing that has been machined for the larger wheel. Not worth it in my opinion. Forced Performance has a new bolt on stock appearing turbo that will fit all of your dreams with the proper tune and support (and I mean that). Don't bother with the 17c combo, too much money for not enough gain on a dsm.

At the time, when I bought my turbo, I went with the 12cm exhaust housing because everything I read the 14cm exhaust housing was too big for the stock TC. After installing the 20g using the Ulitimate chip, I went from like a 13.18 to 14.4 ET in the 1/4 mile. There is a thread with my exact times. My 60 foot went from like a 1.7 to 2.2. I picked up top end as my MPH went from a 99 to like 102 but it was a turd out of the hole.
Jeff tuned it and my 60 foots were back to the same as the stock turbo. My best on the 20g went back down to 13.0 at 104. Since then I found rear wheel cylinder issues when I changed to aluminum drums then was able to turn my times in my signature.
I had my 700r rebuilt over the past winter and put a multi disk Vigilante in. I plan to lock the TC this year and would be really happy with high/mid 12's and will be a free Jeff Scott sales rep with mid/low 12's.
