Strange HVAC issue

not sure if there is a better place for this, but:

When I go from the defrost position to the off position, I hear a loud hiss from behind the dash, then I hear the flapper door just drop and bounce a couple of times.

I assume this is a vacuum leak somewhere. Where do i start?

You can grab yourself a shovel and start digging. You're in deep shit!

J/K, Can't answer your question as to what is wrong or where but I pull the cowl off and check the actuator in there. Then I would check under the dash and check all of that out. If that is all ok, I would check out behind the control switches. Not sure but I am think there is one by the ECM as well.

So it seems like it's the lower of the two actuators. I can feel it kinda pop just before the door drops.

I can't see how to remove it though. Suggestions?
