sy 700 r 4 whats it worth

i got one when i bought my truck and am never gonna use it.


it has a fresh re-build w/ shift kit was the info i was given ........whats it worth?

depending on the "rebuild" and the "shift kit"...anywhere from $400-600 i probably the most you'll get from it imo.

IMO a shift kit on a SyTy tranny devalues it. The shift kit softens the firm SyTy shifts.

depending on the shift kit used you may have runined a perfectly good VB. some of the cheaper ones will just ruin the seperator plate(which you can replace with a new one). either way a good core is only worth about 200.

the rebuild is with stock compnents and i dont understand why a shift kit would ruin the value of the trans ......every trans that i see for sale thats been rebuilt has a shift kit in it. could somone explain this

The shift kit softens the firm SyTy shifts.

this should explain most of it for you. the syty trans was the most badass thing gm could come up with when these trucks were produced. ANYTHING like a shift will ruin and make worse the trans you have.

NON of the shift kits shift as hard as the stock syty does with the proper timing required to prevent bindup and not too hard that it begins to break hard parts.

So, in review, a shift kit in a syty trans is a step backwards and some of them require you to drill the seperator plate and some ask you to drill molest the VB(which is no longer available thus adding to the value)
