anyone ever drive there sy for like 8hrs or so straight or with a few stops, if i do buy one this week, ill be driving 8 hrs home anyone see any problems with this?

a member of this forum flew all the way to NJ from Canada to buy a Typhoon. Looked at it, gave him the money and drove it back to Canada.

As long as its in good shape, its not a problem, I drive mine to and from Kansas City each year and thats just about 20 hours non-stop.

As long as its in good shape, its not a problem, I drive mine to and from Kansas City each year and thats just about 20 hours non-stop.

I drove it from NJ to NYC for two days then the trip home took 4 days, a couple 8hr days, a 12 hr day and a 16hr day to finish the trip off. The truck was great , and still was when i got home and went through it with a couple of board members.

Like Jimmy and Morgan said you really should have someone go through it with/for you!

I drove my phoon from Green Bay to the west coast of Washington in two days when I bought mine a few months ago.

I picked mine up in Chicago, drove straight through to Orlando. Did 80 the whole way, truck never missed a beat. Kinda stupid cause the truck was new to me, driving in an unfamiliar area, by myself, for 18 hours. Spent the weekend with my girl running around, drove from Orlando to Tampa, then to Ocala, then back to Orlando.. Then I decided I'd go ahead and take it home to Miami. Did a complete service on the truck the day I brought it home. Now my first Sy I picked up in Jacksonville, and I lost 3rd and 4th gear the second I crossed over the Miami-Dade county line. Just check out the truck before hand, and make sure it has fresh oil in it before you head out. If it has a stock radio, let me suggest you get a cdplayer wired up to plug into the factory harness before you go pick it up. That way you can change it out first thing, and avoid an ass-numbingly dull trip home. That's what I did, since I don't own a cassette tape and can't stand FM radio while travelling, you're either listening to staticy music, boring gospels, or super clear commercials. Flip out in-dash screen with dvd would be even more entertaining. Good luck.

Drove mine form North Carolina to NJ when I bought it in May of last year. The 10 year old truck had the original tires and wipers on it. It rain the entire trip back but I had no problems. Drove it to and from KC this year stopping only to refill.

If its road worthy it will be fine, you probably be a little sore. I have done 6 8+ hours trip in my syclone and my old typhoon. I drive usually non-stop except for fillups when I take a long trip (5 hours between stops) The 93 Ty seats give me a sore back, my Sy seats make my legs go numb. If I want to do more than 10 hours a day of driving the these truck, I think I would need to take more stops.

22hrs non stop cept for gas and pee breaks.. Would do it again in a heart beat if my truck wasnt permanently attached to jack stands in the garage.

drove mine form New mexico to Ga and the truck never missed a beat except the alternator craped out in oklahoma city. that was the only problem though. I would not hesitate to do it again in a heart even if i had to drive even further. Jpope

Drove mine 2,000 miles from Mass to Texas, did the Hot Rod Power Tour 1,200 miles to Wisconsin and then drove it 1,200 miles home all in one week. You can do it no problem, these trucks ride great at 90 to 110 and get 17 mpg.

Drove my Sy from Orlando to Kansas City, Missouri in 23 hours, no stopping.

Averaged around 80-85mph, with the occasional 100+mph streches in the mountains. After reaching St. Louis, average speed went to 100-105mph. The entire bed was full of shirts, raffle prizes, nationals packets, misc boxes, and lugage.

We beat the shit outta the truck there and back..... it also did it in 99 as well.

I just drove a Typhoon from MN to CO and it was about 13hrs straight. I was concerned about the exhaust that exited right about where the torsion bar is and it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it might be. It also got mid 20's for mpg on the highway as well. Pretty good. In all it was a decent trip and nowhere near as bad as I expected it to be.

I drove mine from Batesville IN to Ogden Ut, sight unseen. I did however get a tranny and oil changed before I left Indy.(you might want to have the current owner change plugs, wires cap, rotor too if you can) I dont suggest trying to get it home in a hurry, take a camera and take pics of her along the way its great for her photo album (my sy is my only kid) It is true they ride the best ~90mph and i averaged 17mpg. I loved my trip home, had a ton-o-fun. :rock: <-- I dig this emocon!
