My dad was wondering if he could make the drive train from a ty work on a jeep frame???
He was wandering if he could use a 350sbc and the tranny through the axles from a ty?
Obviously with some fabricating could this work?

Re: syty drivetrain in a jeep????

depending on what you want this jeep to do, it might be easyor to modify a jimmy frame and put it under a jeep. are you looking for a fast jeep, or a goofy off road truck. In my head it seems difficult, trying to spool a turbo to try an make enough power to drag myself out of a ditch and whatnot, maybe as a mud truck it could work...

He doesn't want to use the turbo setup just the tranny trans case and axle setup

He wants it to have enough power and traction to launch a boat off the beach

SyTyless......for now!
Re: syty drivetrain in a jeep????

Transmissions and transfer cases aren't really SyTy specific (except the trans internals on the SyTy/Vette), the Astro/Safari vans used them and the Bravadas did as well. Same thing with the front and rear differentials. A 350 will bolt up to the 700R4/4L60E fine, the bellhousings are the same between Chevrolet smallblocks, big blocks, the 4.3 and the old I6's.
