so ive been working rather diligently on my sy project. tore down the whole rear half of the truck. by this i mean the bed and everything under it. got the chasis painted, ls1 rear brakes($80 j-yard hustle) on w/ebrake braket, p-s-t bushings installed and leafs/shackles re-installed, swaybar ready... been taking measurements for wheels, and working on the gas tank and fuel lines.
anyway im at the point where i have to make a decision on the rear suspension dampers. any kind of multi point system is out of the question(maybe on the next project). so that leaves me with three other options that i can think of... im sure theres more and thats why i want you guysess feedback.:
1) replacement shocks: truck had koni's when i bought and they were horrible. i was thinking KYB's. thats what i ran on my scooby and they were incredibly awesome. so my first pick would be a cheap pair of MONOMAX's.
2) bag-it: this i what i really want to do, but i fear ill loose the stiffness and handling characteristics i want at the ride height i want. btw the truck currently has 1" drop blocks. the more i think about baggin-it, the more i feel it woud be redundant and lower performance.
3) coil overs: seen guys running qa1 on the rear but im not a big fan of adjustable shocks or springs(however im 100% sure im gonna run the coil-over set up on the front)or an extra set of coil springs when theres already leaf springs. id rather have something set that will work in all conditions and is specific to the syclone application as far as weight and unsprung mass(ie. the live axle).
i recently saw some bistein racing shocks in members market place but it was just pics... they werent for sale. can anyone elaborate on these and theyre availiblility and any other manufacturers that make similar products.
