Well I have come to the conclusion that my transmission is toast. I want to rebuild it myself for financial reasons. I have been doing quite a bit of research and have found many places to order a rebuild kit from. The problem i have run into is I don't know exactly what to buy. There are so many different places that have different kits that are suppossed to make it stronger and they all claim to be better than their compeitors. Some kits include shift kits and other come with corvette servos. I want to know what is specific to our trans to make it so different there are tons of threads on here saying that it should be taken to someone that knows these trucks. However in my mind as long as the valve body doesn't get any parts changed it, doesn't matter it is still just a 4l60.
What are your guy's thoughts on this and has anyone pulled this off at home and been succesful. I bought a hayes tech book at autozone and it really doesn't seem hard to do just tons of parts.
Also I imagine i need to repalce the torque convertor there doesn't seem like there would be a good way to clean it out. What would be a sutiable replacement the truck is stock right now but i do plan to set it up to run on E85 and up the boost a little but nothing to crazy. So a stock convetor would most likley be fine but where so i find one is ours unique ??
