Can I add a oil additive to box like slick 50 ,as I want to coat internals for extra protection

It's an oil supplement....If it was me I'd call the vendor you'd like to use and ask them their thoughts on the matter....just to be safe...If they say ok....your good to go!

No. Slick50 is/was/always been shit. Redline or Royal Purple should be just fine, uses ATF.

So if i am correct just plain dexron 3 ATF for the transfercase ..

I can't find any dexron III, all the stores I've been to only carry Dex/merc or dexron VI

What can I use? In both the transfer and trans?

Dex/merc is dexron3 and mercon....it's just a superceded name and can be used in most GM and ford applications where specified....I use a quart of dex/merc and some Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer in my transfercase. You can use also use the latest dexron gm fluid as it also supercedes dex/merc.

Dexron VI is also backwards compatible. Meaning Dex VI will replace Dex 3, but you can't use Dex 3 in place of VI.
