Tri State Track Results 4/21/07

Well just got back from the track. It was alot warmer then expected with highs in the upper 70's. So everyones times were off a from thier bests. The track also had a record turnout for the test & tune so runs were at a premium . 4 Syclones and 2 Typhoons showed up. We also had Jeep GC SRT 8 , a motorcycle, a mustang, a TTA and several s-seris groupies;) as spectators.

I ran a best of 11.97@ 110.9 in my SY. Still with the stock turbo. Made 4 other runs in the 12.0 range also all at 110+. Not to bad for the conditions.

John B. Nesbeth (sy0565) and Jean B. Reallywill had trouble getting the new build Sy to run as hoped. They did manage a 11.71 @ 115.8, but it was 3 tenths off at the 1/8 from a previous best of 7.29. Plenty of left, but it needs alot of tuning.

VaderSy was still struggling with his intercooler problem and manage a 12.5 best @ 104. Well off his best ET and very frustrating to him. It was nice meeting him and his brother with his sweet TTA. Thanks for coming down and playing with us.

Josh Kimmell (sy2639)from Indy also made it down, unfortunely I did not catch his times. Please post'em when you get a chance.

Jay (Viperman5) and his Dad also came down from Indy with his very clean 24,xxx mile Ty and GC SRT 8. His Ty managed a 13.44 @ 102 best for the day. Unfortunely it needed the rear brakes adjusted as it was limited to 2 lbs launches.

Plenty left in this truck too. I went down with the SRT 8 once. It ran a 14.7 but had an issue. I know they made more runs with it, but I am not sure of the times.

Mike HARDman (Heavy breather) also came in his Ty. It is in between front driveshafts right now, but did manage a 13.5 best at 105 and had some impressive burnouts. Lots of issues for the Ty right now but fixes and 11 second ET's are in the near future.

I would like to thank everyone for coming down especially Rich ( sy2677) who brought down his bike, but fought a dead battery all day. I am looking forward to seeing those sweet flames on your Sy in person. We will have to do it again sometime and the best part was EVERYONES SY/TY LEFT THE TRACK STILL RUNNING. Not a common thing with these trucks.

Sounds like a great time... wish I had made it out but I had a few things to do around here. I wouldn't have gotten anything accomplished anyway since the WB isn't installed yet. I would have just turned a few low 13's which is disappointing because I know the truck is capable of low/mid 12's if I can get it tuned. Maybe I can squeeze out an 11.9 since I have a few mods over Jeremy. I'll be there next time.

I wish I could have made it down there. :( I started tearing my Sy apart on Monday and didn't get it fixed up in time for the event. (its still in pieces now) Hopefully everything will be squared away by the time the Homecomming comes around!

Thanks again. You s-seris guys are all right, despite what Dobreak says.

Yeah at least my son asked for help, instead of falling off and breaking an arm. Out of all the things at the track your 4x4 was one of the first things Avery had to tell my wife about. He is only 5 he will learn better.....

We missed ya. I was wanting to see your Syclone in person and check out that paint job! We will just have to catch you at the Homecoming.

Unfortunately my truck died at the end of the 1/4 mile after letting off the throttle and I pulled off to the right of the track so I didn't get my slip. I think my chip carrier may have come loose. I asked Jeff if he saw what I ran and he said it was a 12.44. My best is a 12.20 when I had the ultimate chip installed and I figured I would be slower since I haven't dialed in my tune under boost with $59 yet. It was running very rich under boost. I was also seeing very high MAT temps so that didn't help either. I've got to get my Razor's Alky kit installed before going back to the track again.

I had a lot of fun and it was nice to meet some new faces.

Yeah, no shit. Here's my day. This is what happens when a valve seat comes loose. The pathetic thing is, it just ran a 4.83 in the 1/8, and it let go coming back down the return road. I didn't have my digi cam with me, so these are with my camera phone. I'll get better pics later this week. btw Jeremy, I left you a voice mail earlier after we got it torn down. Think your phone was off. Got the backup motor in now, probably gonna slow down to 5.20s or 5.30s in the 1/8th. Oh well, at least this motor has proven itself capable and reliable many times over.

Rundown of damage = 1 trashed head, 4 or 5 trashed pistons (pieces of the valve seat went back up the intake and down many other cylinders), a few intake valves, 2nd head needs repaired. Luckily, block looks good, and no scoring on the cylinder walls. Haven't pulled the oil pan off yet to check out the crank or rods, but we're hoping it's all ok down there.

My Dad get quesy from the torque under hard acceleration so he let off @ 1000 foot when he ran the 14.7.

I managed a 13.94 @ 99.4. I think the SRT has more in it. It was running super hot and my 60 foot time was 1.94.

I had a great time hanging out and meeting some new SyTy'ers.

Did anyone happen to get some videos other than the one posted? I was hoping to see the other trucks running since I was usually in the staging lanes.

Every time I touched that truck it went slower. Once it dropped to a 15.5, although I'm blaming the driver on that one since she let off before the lights. Datalog showed 93mph on that run, and the timeslip showed 75mph. Somethings fishy there :D

Then we started having Ostrich issues, and the idea of heatsoak was quickly pounded in as well......Maybe next time? I hear the trucks a week away from a convertor/propshaft/80E/alky/cam/intake swapfest.....we'll see how that pans out!
