Turbo Difference

Whats the difference between a PT 70 GTS and a PT 72 GTQ besides the obvious size difference? Pros and Cons of each if they are set up with ball bearings? What about spool up time? Motor is a RPM street terror, Brodix Heads, RPM headers, AC delete & Electric fans and Electric water pump. For got to mention that I'm looking for a low 11 pass...!!

You should easily get there with the pte 70 or even the 67gtq. I got there on vortec heads and a pte 70 stealth in a Ty weighing 4,150 lbs. The 67gtq will spool better than either the 70 or the 72. Some of this will depend on your TC.

Sorry to say but I don't remember...Its still sitting on the shelf. I've had it for a while. being in the military kinda slows down the progress on the black btch...

If it is loose enough,you can run one or the other.
Spool up time depends on how loose is your converter,& other things.

By the time I get outta Iraq and get back to Alaska, winter will be right around the corner, so I've got until spring of next year to get it back into kicking arse and taking names stage!

If I had to guess....I would say 2800 - 3200 ?? I orginally had a turbonetics 61 series to throw at it but I gave it to my buddie Ronnie in NC...so I figured I might up the stakes a little

with headers and a bb turbo your stall speed requirements should be a little lower than without

i would also think higher compression would help spool time

I've got a PT72 Q-trim, and my truck has run 11.1s with ported L35 heads and a 2800 stall 9/11 converter. Spoolup is not much of a problem with the .81 exhaust housing. Too bad you're in Iraq. I'll be up in your area next weekend.

Thanks Timbo...I kinda figured it would, but just wasn't to sure. I know we have nice cool (turbo) weather nights up in Fairbanks plus I have a CO2 spraier for the A2A cooler. Guess all the info kinda tells me which way to go!

I was just wondering if the CO2 sprayer has a tendancy to get ingested into the air intake?

yeah i'm wondering about the co2 thing myself. i was thinking about trying it and doing a fender scoop for air intake, sealing it to the vent

it does happen, i was at track in houston and a guy with a srt4 modded to bout 600hp had that, and he injested a bit of it and it acted like a fire extigisher and all the non combusted fuel hydro locked his engine, and threw a rod out the botom of the engine.
